This Year's Model Updates:

The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
Cons:
  • All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

I bought this 2001 Altima with the 4 cylinder,moonroof,leather..fully loaded... and have not looked back! Tried the Lexus and others and I found that the Altima had the power, the looks and room that I required. If you want a fun ride..its either this car or the Chrysler/PT Cruiser. These two are the best rides for the money. Now I have to buy my wife one..or else! Do yourself a favor..live a little..get one!

If youre looking for a car that is refined and distinguish looking. Then the 2002 Altima SE is your pick. If youre looking for a car that is so fast you can blame your receding hairline on. The 2002 Altima SE is your pick.

This car is a real improvement over the pevious year models. I have owned a 98" and 99 and never had any problems with either of them. The 2002 model looks and drives great and is a real improvement overall compared to previous years. One thing that does concern me is a thumping noise that occurs during acceleration and while turning. It has been getting worse over the months and we have 4,300 miles. According to a Service rep at Bankston Nissan of Dallas it isnt normal. I will have it checked out soon.

When driving the car would cut out, lose power but still be running, tach would jump up and down press on gas no response, had car in Nissan dealer many times they were playing the guessing game, replaced throttle body, computer, complete wiring harness, car is doing same as before started last night, I just put a new fuel pump, plugs 126.000 mi. Have not checked check engine code yet. Thanks

ItÂ’s True to the Slogan "Cure For Common Car" I like the design and Space inside and awesome power for V4. Stick shift is so much fun to drive in Altima.

  • Not worth the money - 2002 Nissan Altima

If the Altima truly wants to compete with the Accord and the Camry, then Nissan has to stop adding on all the extras, that already come with on the Accord and Camry. I love the engine and the color but thats about it. The BOSE system that came in most of the pewter colored cars that had the other features I wanted is definitely not worth the extra $800. I paid for it.

I have found the 2002 Altima to satisfy that craving to have a sporty car with zip while realizing I have to have room for my wife and son. Even the 4 cylinder is quiet yet responsive. Interior offers plenty of space and good trunk space as well. Nissans strong performance history and fully adjustable "race-car" driving compartment was also a selling factor for me. But truthfully, the primary feature which drew me to the Atima was the beautiful exterior, crowned by the jeweled rear lights which are classy and reflective of a generation gone by.

  • ITS A PIECE OF JUNK!!! - 2002 Nissan Altima

When i got it it drove perfectly but now it needs oil evry other day, it rattles like crazy. all i can say about this car is; Dont buy it!! Its a piece of junk. will never buy a Nissan again even if its offered for free. Shame on you Nissan for taking advantage of hard working Americans.! Forget Nissan. Would appreciate if they come pick up their junk in my back yard.
