Overview & Reviews
All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
- Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

2005 Altima SE V6 270,000 Miles and counting - 2005 Nissan Altima
By frank1981 - July 25 - 5:46 amWhat can I say, My Altima has given the best run! It has had only one problem, Alternator gave in during its first 30,000 miles and was under warranty. For the first 3 years I drove about 30,000 a year. Then I slowed down, drove about 20,000 after that lol Amazing vehicle ! No major problems. I have done tune ups as needed, purchase tires, oils changes & other basic needs.

Terrific Car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By BarbJan - July 19 - 10:00 amLove the 2005 Altima we purchased. Beautiful design and handling. The only funny snag is that with all the extras that are in it it does not include an ashtray. We were able to get the Smokers Package but the lighter that will work with it hasnt been designed yet.

Great Car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By ducci15 - July 19 - 10:00 amCame from Mazda 626. 2.5 S is much sporty and larger interior makes it feel like larger vehicles. Someone told me that it looks like a cross between a Beemer and a Lexus! Good pickup and interior features.

good bye Honda, hello Nissan - 2005 Nissan Altima
By altizoom - July 9 - 4:46 amRecently purchased the 3.5 SE and really enjoy it. Plenty of power, great interior design (aside from not being able to see the radio display in sunlight...but nothing is perfect), and aggressive exterior styling. Impressive mpg performance thus far considering the large engine. Im currently getting around the same mileage as my 99 Acura Integra LS. Say goodbye Honda, Hello Nissan

Not your fathers Olsmobile - 2005 Nissan Altima
By WDS - June 7 - 2:40 pmIve had this car for two weeks and love it. It handles extremely well for a mid- size sedan. First tank of gas I got 25.3 mpg. I hope that will improve some as I expected to get around 28mpg. The stereo isnt bad for us 40 and over crowd. The trunk is huge. I wish I sent the extra $1500 for the convenience package. other than that it sure beats my Dodge Ram with the Hemi 14 mpg.

Nissan Altima - 2005 Nissan Altima
By IzenFire - June 7 - 10:00 amIt is really nice to drive the new Altima. It turns on a dime and has a great pickup. I was really impressed with many of the features that are offered on the steering wheel. Nice to not have to look down at the CD or Radio to change channels or volumn. Seating is wonderful; not to mention the 4 doors are excellent for being able to drive the elderly around.

Great car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By chris ruiz - June 5 - 8:50 pmThis is a great car. During the evacuation during the Rita storm, I was stuck in traffic for over 15 hours (the car was running nonstop), and I did not have any problems. While other vehicles were pulling over becasue they were running out of gas, I got to my destination 16 hours later with half a tank of gasoline left over. Fun car to drive and reliable.

Altima-Good Choice - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Ken - May 31 - 6:26 pmI use Edmnuds reviews all the time so I figured Id add a review on the car I own. I did the usual research on reliable, safe cars with good fuel mileage and although the Accord and Camry are good cars I just felt the Altima was as good and a lot better looking. The Mazda 6 was the only car I thought that had a look that could compete with the Altima but the 6 seemed more like a sport coupe and less like a sedan (which I understand many people like). Mechanically Ive had no problems with the car. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, and judging by the number of Altimas I see on the road Im assuming others are too.
