This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

Ive had my 20005 Altima for about a year now. I really love this car! Its fun to drive, and has pickup equal to my old Sable 6 cylinder car! Im short, and its adjustable seats & steering wheel make it very comfortable for me. On the other hand, my 6 foot boys and their friends have never complained about being cramped in the car. Go figure. The gas milage has been great - this is, of course, becoming one of my favorite features lately. I think the car is fairly quiet, and yet very responsive. I did have a broken strut after this winter however, which was promptly repaired under warranty. Otherwise, no other problems. Funny, my old 72 Datsun used to break struts also!! Hummmm.

I am a 45-year old mother of five and can I say owning this car has been the most fun! My older kids all want to drive it and show it off to their friends. The younger ones think its such a treat whenever I let them go for a ride in it. The whole look of the exterior and interior screams luxury sport. And the Code Red color sure does turn heads.

The altima was the best buy for the money in the cars that I looked at. It had the most space except for the paasat. I got the 4 cylinder which has some power. The 3.5 has quite a bit more but for 5 grand more. I did have a tough time in the s model trying to find abs as a option(I think it should standerd) like it alot so far and got lots of complements.

  • 2005 Altima in the hands of a 16 yr. old - 2005 Nissan Altima

My car gets a lot of looks, however I have added a Trenz chrome grill which really compliments the satin white paint. I have also added a few Stillen body parts painted the body color. My Borla mufflers with 3 1/2" chrome tips sound great and enhance the look of the rear a lot. Although my car looks a tad different than stock, I love the lines of the car which I have strived to keep.

  • I love my 2005 Nissan Altima SE-R - 2005 Nissan Altima

I love this car. It has style, it has performance, its economically feasible, and it is also reliable. The BOSE sound system is awesome. The red and black leather is totally unique. I feel like I am driving a German sports car rather than your typical Japanese mid-sized sedan. I bought this car right when it came out when it had zero miles on it, and now it has around 68,000 miles, and I have had zero problems with it. I plan on driving this car till the day it dies, which I do not think will be anytime soon. Thanks Nissan, you can pat yourselves on the back for making the 2005 Altima SE-R!

  • Replaces my SAAB - 2005 Nissan Altima

I got this car with 40,000 miles, 3 years old. It is raplacing my 2004 Saab 93. I am pleasantly surprised by this vehicle. The 4 cyl coupled with the 4 speed automatic perform very well with good fuel economy. The brakes are not bad & arent much worse than Saab which are probable the best of any car produced at any cost! I drove my Altimait 800 miles within 4 days & the front seat comfort is outstanding! This vehicle runs like a new car with very few rattles considering its age & mileage. Only maintenance has been brakes which is to be expected. For some reason, Japanese brakes wear poorly & this car is no exception however they do perform well. Great car Nissan!

I am in love with my car!! I look forward to getting off of work so that I can take a drive. It has such a nice look to it - both inside and out. My passengers enjoy it too. The back seats are very roomy. The trunk is HUGE! I never had a moment of buyers remorse. I am very happy with my decision.

  • Good to go - 2005 Nissan Altima

Recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE. Test drove both the 2.5 and 3.5. The 2.5 had fairly good pickup but was very noisy during acceleration. The 3.5 has much better pickup, is quieter, and has smoother acceleration over the range of driving conditions. If you’re looking at a 2.5S with convenience packaging you might want to consider the 3.5SE since the price is not that different. The gas mileage is posted at 20 to 30. I am getting around 22 – 23 around the city – better than expected with my lead foot. I recommend that you work with two or more dealerships to get the price down. I managed to pay invoice price after haggling between dealerships.

I have had this car for about a year now, and I have been extremely pleased. The car performs better than I dared hope, and I have not had any reason at all to complain. I really believe this car is one of the best buys available when you consider cost, performance, and reliability. I have been totally satisfied.
