Overview & Reviews
The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
- All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

A FUN car to drive - 2002 Nissan Altima
By ajgu - June 28 - 10:00 amIt is much more than a sedan. If you cant afford an expensive sports car and you are married but still want some fun, buy this. I once unintentionly travel at 65 mph on a 40 mph curving ramp. i am not proud of it. My point is that this is more than a sedan

Great speed and only good looks!!! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Baltazar - June 24 - 10:00 amI bought my altima when first came out. Traded a Honda for a Nissan and I was very happy at first. Then Brake problem(Air in the brakes) came up. I have a problem driving 50 or 60 because steering wheel starts shaking... Nissan will not fixed brake problem. They say that is just normal!!! You can try to see in your car by driving slowly and pushing the brake half way through, then once you get the feeling once you will notice over and over again and will drive crazy because brakes feels like it has air in lines. Other than that is fast, stereo is great.

A true world-class midsize competitor. - 2002 Nissan Altima
By DanJCUCern - June 24 - 10:00 amWhen preparing to graduate from college and deciding which car to purchase as my first brand-new car, I considered the Passat, Maxima and Camry in addition to the Altima. At first I was not sure if I wanted to get the Altima. After being persuaded to take it for a test drive, I fell in love with it. The 4 cylinder engine has impressive accelleration and fuel economy. The seats are comfortable and everything is well-placed. For the price, it could not be beat.

Can Look but Cant Drive the Altima - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Unhappy Altima Owner - June 14 - 10:00 amI have owned my Altima for 2.5 years and have had 2 major breakdowns. First off, the catalytic converter went out. This was under factory warranty. Next the fuel pump went out. These are the types of breakdowns that should happen to MUCH OLDER cars. Overall I am pretty unhappy with this car. The interior is cheap, rattles, it has had a LOT of recalls, and breaks down a lot. Overall it is a good looking but if you cant drive it, what good is it? I think this will be my last Nissan.

still like new - 2002 Nissan Altima
By mricha02 - April 11 - 2:00 amI bought my 02 Altima S model with moonroof, bose, pwr seat and 5-spd. I LOVE IT. Got rid of the crappy continental tires and put on 18 X 8.5 OZ racing wheels with Sumitomo tires, much better ride now. I havent had a problem with squeaks, rattles parts breaking or breaking down. Wish I could say the same for the 50K 2003 Navigator I bought. What you get for the price is far more fun than the bland style and performance of the Camry and Accord 4 cyl. My brakes squeal under light stopping but the dealership cant figure out why...oh well, all in all I love it and dont have to pay a grand to get the timing belt replaced at 90K like the hondas :- 0

dont buy nissan - 2002 Nissan Altima
By dontbuynissan - March 23 - 2:00 amDonot buy nissans new cars in their first year. i have this car for about an year now. 4 months later things start to fall apart in this. first the middle arm rest broke, then the leather covering around the shifter came off. after that the clutch started to make a squeaky sound. this has been a horrible experience for me both with the dealership and the car. also last week the shift knob came into my hand when i was changing gears and almost crashed my car.

WOW!! What a Car - 2002 Nissan Altima
By tedg99 - March 7 - 10:00 amThis is the BEST car Ive ever owned (and less expensive than others) VERY ergonomically designed (wish fog lamps were standard) Drives like a DREAM with outstanding syle. Lots of compliments and inquirys. Alway told people to NEVER buy from Gwinnett Nissan (they tried SO hard to screw me -- but failed) Awesome car -- GREAT VALUE!! My check engine light has been on since 36K and the dealer cant figure out why??? (Im now at 80K) still runs like a dream.
