Disappointed - 2008 Nissan Altima
By scottfl17 - July 25 - 10:36 amThis was my first new car purchase and thought I made the right choice. I was wrong. There are some major problems I have with this car. The main one being the engine. It is loud, noisy, buzzy, does not get good fuel economy. I am going getting 19-21 mpg city and that is driving as conservative as possible, I dont even want to know what it would be if I drove aggressive. The CVT may have been a good idea at the time but its not. During hard acceleration the constant rev of the rpm is annoying and loud, the acceleration is not smooth, sort of feels like youre on a roller coaster, going up hills decelerates very quickly even though the pressure remains constant on the pedal.

Love This Car! - 2008 Nissan Altima
By K Lewis - July 10 - 7:03 pmThis car is fun to drive. After switching out the Continental tires for Bridgestone tires, it handles better, and the ride is out of this world! Specs are awesome! Suggested for any young professional who has to travel 20+ min to work, great ride.

Love my Altima - 2008 Nissan Altima
By sam - June 22 - 2:13 amHere in Canada the model is an SL. This car has outstanding fuel economy, I recently achieved 42mpg (imp. gal.)to and from work. This weekend we traveled through the Laurentian mountains and got 38mpg. This car is way better than a Camry and its lousy shifting transmission, fit and finish the Altima beats it hands down. Anyone shopping for a midsize should put this car on the list, youll be pleasantly surprised.

stay away - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Mart - May 24 - 10:34 am-Both head gaskets needed to be replaced at 62K -Metallic sound upon acceleration at 88K -New Basal vibration/sound when accelerating and decelerating Though Nissan would be trouble free...Cannot believe the low quality of this vehicle. Never Nissan again...

Great Buy - 2008 Nissan Altima
By gilmore girl - May 21 - 10:26 pmA little over a year ago I bought yet another Altima. Going through college I had a 96 Altima. Wow, how theyve changed. The new Altimas are really sporty, fun to drive and reliable. I have black leather seats and they werent the most comfortable when I first purchased the car but after a year they are great. The four cylinder has plenty of power and this is coming from a person who drove a 4 Runner with a V8 engine for 3 years. All in all a great buy for the price!

One Happy Customer - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Happy Customer - May 20 - 2:33 pmTest drove Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Nissan Altima. The horsepower (175 HP) for the 4 cyl was a welcome surprise! It takes a little getting used to a car that doesnt shift when driving. The CVT is great! The car also includes a lot of interior room. We have had four passengers fit comfortably in the car (front and rear seats). The Convenience Plus Package is a nice configuration. Interior includes a lot of storage places. The layout of the dash and the console controls is easy to use and well though out.

Problems from the start - 2008 Nissan Altima
By JamesN - May 13 - 7:53 amI bought my 3.5SE cvt 1 year ago and almost immediately noticed slight movement in the power driver seat. I figured something needed tightening or adjusted but 1 year later and 4 visits to the dealer and the answer Im getting is that Im not the only one with this issue and Nissan is aware but does not have a solution yet. I cant believe I have a 32K car that I HATE now because of movement. Google Nissan Altima Seat squirm and you will find others with the same complaints. I doubt they have corrected the problem with the 09s but BEWARE. Ive also had quite a few rattles that are frustrating me. Ive had an Xterra and an 05 Titan that were well made but this will be my last Nissan.

Fun fun fun - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Adam - May 9 - 8:20 pmIt is a sleek looking car and caught my eye. The 4L is plenty powerful and the standard package is enough for anyone. I am 66" and I LOVE that there is no sun roof standard... if there was I would be able to fit inside. (Made me choose the Altima over the Civic Si) Thank you Nissan for that one. It is an overall fun and sporty ride with an exceptional interface between the engine and transmission.

sporty little economy car - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Chris - May 5 - 4:35 pmI bought this car over 7 years ago, and it has taken us on several trips without any issues. Other than a new battery from time to time and oil changes often, this car has been great to us. Just recently, on a trip to Florida, I noticed the transmission was slipping a bit and the cruise control would not work because the sensor de-activated it, and the engine light came on. I pulled into a autozone store and they checked it quickly and advised that the transmission needed to be repaired or replaced. I drove the car a little slower on the last leg of the trip home without any problems. When I got home, I researched the site about complaints on certain cars, and discovered that the Altima had some issues. To my surprise the transmission had a 120Kmile warranty and my car had a little over 105K miles on it. I took it to Carriage Nissan in Gainesville Ga. and Alex, the service person gave me Great news. The transmission needed to be replaced and it was covered, 100%. He ordered a new transmission and the following day it arrived and I dropped my car off and was given a brand new Altima while mine was being fixed. two days later , my car was ready and just like they said, no charge and the loaner car was free. I cannot say enough of how well they treated me and Nissans warranties are legit. Im looking forward to a couple more years out of the car, and they definitely made that possible. This is the best 17 thousand dollars I ever spent.
