This Year's Model Updates:

A clean-sheet redesign for 2007 produces a Nissan Altima that boasts an available 270-horsepower V6, a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a roomy cabin that's much improved in terms of overall materials quality.

Pros:
  • Strong performance from V6 models, smooth and responsive CVT, attractive cabin design with quality materials, generous interior room front and rear.
Cons:
  • Stability control not available on lower trim levels, mediocre comfort levels in backseat.

  • Overall Very Impressed - 2007 Nissan Altima

Purchased 3.5 SE w/CVT in November 2006. Cloth seats w/few options. Approximately 3000 miles on the vehicle now. I just took a long trip w/the vehicle over the Holidays (avg. 27 mpg on Hwy w/premium) so I was able to spend some extended time inside the car and here is what Ive found so far. Very impressed with 3.5 and CVT combination. Its a blast to drive. My only complaint is that the transmission has a slight initial hesitation under hard acceleration. However, once the revs come up the car moves out. Brakes are awesome. On the other hand, seats are BAD on long trips, horn is more difficult to operate than it should be, and the interior has too many cheap looking/feeling parts.

I have 1,100 miles on my 2.5 SL. Very powerful and fun to drive, but it does not get the rated mileage. I am 64" and have plenty of room in the front seats. The back seat, however does not have a lot of headroom. The computer is not accurate as far as displaying the miles per gallon, but is a nice touch. I test drove the Camry (did not like it) and the Accord (close second). My only concern is whether it will hold its resale value. There is more engine noise when the car is cold and when accelerating. Cruising is OK.

I bought my 2007 Altima almost 2 yrs ago. At the time it had over 200k miles on it mostly highway from the previous owner who owned and operated a professional mechanic shop. His wife was the sole owner of the car and her commutes where via highway 80 miles per day. I am in construction therefore I did not want to spend a lot of money considering it would be on the sites a lot. The price I got it for was a steal and I paid cash because I dont like car payments. The cost of ownership has being minimal. I have the the SL Sanoma Sunset and tan leather interior. Overall it has been a perfect car even with the high mileage. The car always starts and runs well. The ride is smooth and in control. I do regular oil changes and fluids. I use a full synthetic oil. I highly recommend this car for ad ails driver. It does not disappoint. I am bummed because someone hit the back end of it and the cost of repair is not cheap. I am at 233k on it and my hopes are that I still have a good 60k or more before I need to replace it. It still drives well like a new car. My nephew wants to buy it from me because it rides well. I will more than likely buy a newer Altima or the Maxima. My family members all own Nissans and we all like them for the value, performance and style. I also own a 2009 Murano which is a great vehicle too. :-)

Great car to own and drive. Its fast, quiet, smooth amd sexy looking!CVT gives it a smooth takeoff and it just keeps going! Interior is well built, however, there seems to a rattle noise fron the rr speaker mounting panel on rough roads. It is annoying and 3 Nissan dealers failed to fix it.I have learned to listen to loud music when driving on rough roads! Unlike the previous model of nissan Altima(2002-2006), the steering turning angle is great and the tires easily last for 35k miles. Maintenance cost is very reasonable and so far had very little warranty work done. Definitely a car to be proud of.Go buy one and see for yourself!

Ive had the car only 3 weeks, but I began enjoying it the moment I drove it off the dealers lot and back to my hometown 30 miles away!

The Altima fits all of my needs; fuel efficiency; roominess; gadgets (push button start, navigation, etc.); convenience (power seats, windows); reliability (Nissan brand). In comparing with the other 2 Japanese brands, the Nissan Altima is definitely more of a performance vehicle (the other 2 made me feel like I was "Driving Ms. Daisy").

This car is definitely a challenge to all eurosport-type sedans. It definitely belongs to a bavarian autobahn, not NJ turnpike.

Traded in 97 maxima for 07 Altima... what a car! Luxury, speed and affordability doesnt get much better! It will be a sad day when they no longer offer the manual transmission, that is what makes this car such a beast and fun to drive. It has seemingly endless power and pickup, scared sales rep on test drive and didnt even realize going 80-85 mph on highway... good stuff!!

I just recently bought the 2007 Altima with the CVT..I got the SL package, Bose Stereo with Sirius, Rear Spoiler, splash guards, and ABS. Man this car is fun to drive. For a 4 cylinder it has some good pick up. I definitely recommend that you get the Bose stereo..The car I bought invoiced at $24,915 and paid $24,500..so Im happy with that...and Pebble Beach exterior looks sharp with Black leather interior.
