Overview & Reviews
The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
- All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

This car ROCKS!!! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By biener777 - November 7 - 10:00 amI bought this car after a neighbor bought a 2.5S. I had a decked out Focus that I was planning on slamming till I saw his ride and found out it came with a 3.5l V6 w/ a 5 speed! I got the car a month later and paid the same price I paid for the Focus with 100 fewer horses under the hood. Needless to say it was icing on the cake when I test drove the Altima and found I wasnt rubbing elbows with my passenger and my daughter was no longer able to kick the back of my seat! This car has ROOOOOOM to just "be" and enjoy the drive! It is surprisingly easy on the gas too. In fact, I get 24 city and 28 highway.....slightly BETTER than the Focus!!!!

the 2002 altima - 2002 Nissan Altima
By hazel - October 31 - 10:00 amThis is the first brand new car that I bought. I really liked it at first until problems started coming up. when it was about 7 months old, it had to be towed due to crank sensor problems.while just a year old, car at times wont accelerate despite pressing down gas pedal all the way --- now in dealer to check problem. steering wheel used to shimy, transmission gets stuck at times, too.

Wonderful car - 2002 Nissan Altima
By 02Altima - October 22 - 12:36 amI bought this car in November of 2001 and now have 166k miles on it. Ive never once had a problem with it, mechanical or otherwise. Ive done all the routine maintenance and its been a dream. Just know that most people writing reviews are only doing so to complain. This is the best car Ive ever owned and at least 5 friends of mine have bough Nissans based on what theyve seen from my car. When the time comes for something new Im definitely buying Nissan again!

New Altima-OK Car - Nothing Special - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Reston, VA - October 19 - 2:00 amThe new Altima is a nice, comfortable car, but nothing special. Have had several recalls in the last two years, and have had the clutch replaced in less than one year. One big problem with our car, is that it handles very poorly in wet (snow) weather. The car slides and does not stop very well when the roadway is wet/slick. I dont know if this is attributable to the tires, the weight or perhaps the weight distribution, but it can be frightening. In fact, my wife is nervous to drive the car when it rains or snows. Wouldnt buy the car again... need something much more fun to drive.

No regrets with my 2002 Altima SE - 2002 Nissan Altima
By tmcaridi - October 6 - 2:00 amMy Altima has over 17,000 miles now and I enjoy it driving it as much as when I first got it. Living in the suburbs of a major city with plenty of winding roads through the country-side makes this vehicle a pure pleasure to drive. It has great performance, excellent handling and is still gets a lot of looks. The 5-speed manual is the way to go if youre a driving enthusiast.
