This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

My new Altima turns heads. Really. Smooth quiet ride. I can handle nastly midwest weather with confidence. This is my third Nissan, so I know relability is a non-issue.

BMW experience in a Nissan. Great exhaust sound, great improvements over the 3.5SE. Beyond the obvious stats differences, the windows are faster, horn lock sound is quieter, you cant make it squeel a tire from sideways G force. Interior is new GTO-ish. Doors seem heavier than the 3.5SE. 18" Forged aluminum wheels easy to clean due to wheel design. Better shift logic for city driving than the 3.5SE. I hear it has the Maxima transmission, havent cnofirmed. More of a head turner than I expected. People just turn/gawk/change their direction to see what this is. The cost/performance/style/MPG balance just cant be matched/beat in my opinion.

  • fun to drive a 2005 - 2005 Nissan Altima

Ive wanted an Altima since the 2002 model debuted. So glad I waited till the 2005 model got here! I bought mine earlier this month. Notice how the former orange lights have changed. The two red lights on the rear show up beautifully against the polished pewter exterior. The seats are very comfortable, especially on a long drive. Love the radio/CD controls on the new Y shaped steering wheel. I like the redesigned hood and grill. I had been planning to make a good deal on an 04 Altima, but the new 05 hooked me.

  • Love it, But hate it - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought this car after owning quite a few Chevys, and this is my favorite car to date. I love the power and the handling is great, the car looks great. However I live in upstate NY and we get a lot of snow in the winter, with the TCS it makes it very difficult for me to get around. I have to remember to turn off TCS every time I get in the car if there is any snow. The car absolutely will not go uphill in any snow whether TCS is on or off. And there is a considerable amount of road noise, it always seems like Im yelling over it to talk or turning the music up very loud to hear.

  • pricey, but worth it - 2005 Nissan Altima

car handles really good and feels stiff enough to not annoy you. gas mileage could be better, as i avg 15 in city. the car has power to pick up and go. turn radius could be better. the navigation is good, but i preferr hondas navigation as its easier to use and overall better. no complaints about my navi though. my car came with xenons, and the only thing i dislike about them is the lack of projectors in them. lighting just doesnt match my 04 mazda3 or my brother bmw as far as lighting goes.

I got my Nissan with zero miles so far in the past five years I somehow put 184 thousand miles. Have been everywhere in California, very good on gas. At 140 thousand miles four sensors went out do to factory defect after Nissan preformed the recall I have had no problem other than a speeding ticket. Overall an awesome car probably can still get another 200 thousand miles before I get another car.

where do i begin on how great this car is to drive? the comfort? finish? handling? the ample power even on the inline-four? i love this car so much. so far in the 11 months ive owned this car, ive only had 4 oil changes. nothing more and nothing less. nissan are great cars, as long as you do your part in getting service done on time, this car will last you.

Ive had my 05 Altima for about 6 months now, and I love it. Its very fun to drive and very sporty. I have a 2.5 SL which includes leather seats, moonroof/sunroof, and Bose stereo system. I would definitely recommend the Altima for anyone who wants a 4-door sedan but yet something sporty.
