This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Better than an Accord or Camry - 2005 Nissan Altima

Look forward to driving this car every time I get into it. Sweet engine with lots of power. Bose radio display on dash hard to read while driving. Very roomy interior. Same platform as Maxima. Large trunk space. Style of tail lights takes getting used to. Only looked at Altima, Camry & Accord because of reliability history in this class. My wife loves to drive this car much more so than our previous Subaru Outback. Needs dual climate control for driver & front passenger. Outside temp. display should be mounted where other than just the driver can see it. SL model should have 17" wheels like SE model. Rear wheel road noise does enter cabin area, needs improvement. Ive listed all nit-picky.

hands down, NO doubt. Got the car July,2005 with Convenience Plus Package! Car is so easy to drive, nothing harsh about it. All around spacious, including a sizable sunroof. Steering wheel and stereo looks more updated and pleasant than last years model. Interior door latches wide enuff for big hands. Bluish tint on windshield helps against sunglare. Seats feels comfortable for long vacation drives. Tires are decent even in sudden down pours doing 75mph.

This is my third Nissan. My first was a 1982 200 SX that went to 260,000 miles. I still have my 1995 200 SX that has 250,000 miles on it and still running. I know this Altima will run just as strong. I love my Altima! Its fast, fun to drive, comfortable and looks awesome! It just hugs the road and when you need an extra boost, it will not fail you. You will not be disappointed with this vehicle.

First time to own a foreign designed car. I car pool to and from work I cant wait for my turn to drive. Its like when we were kids you just could not wait for your parrents to ask you to go to the store to purchase something for the dinner table. That same feeling comes to me now after owning my car for nearly a year. I do my own maintenance and my vehicle has yet to go in for service of any kind.

This is a fun, yet serious vehicle. My 2005 Nissan Altima is a sedan that has the feel of a sports car! In addition, Ive never felt so safe in a car. I feel totally protected by the excellent construction of the vehicle and the state of the art air bag system. My last statement has been proven, sadly, by the fact that, just one month after purchasing my Altima I was broadsided by another vehicle and although the whole left side of my beautiful car was damaged, I walked away with only minor bruises. I was thoroughly protected by the left side air bags and was wearing my seat belt. Just that evening, Sun., Oct. 3, 2004, Dateline had a story on how side airbags are saving peoples lives.

I needed a 4 door car, but wanted a performance car. This car is both. Roomy, 4 doors, and a engine that packs a punch. This baby will leave many sport cars looking at my tailights! Fun to drive, lots of standard features, and more attractive styling than Accord or Camry.

The Altima is very under-rated when compared with the Camry & Accord. It is better than good on gas mileage, very spacious inside, beautiful outside and a pleasure to drive on long trips or around town. Im proud to own this car. (Please note that this is my 2nd. Altima, Ive owned an Accord & currently own 2 Corollas).

  • Slick Car - Why pay more - 2005 Nissan Altima

Purchased the 3.5 SE Sports Package plus with Xenon lights, Sun-Moon Roof, Spoiler & Bose 6 disc 8 speaker system a month ago and all is well. Though about leather seats, but did not want the cold or hot buns. Very fast and response car. If a engine makes a car, youve got a winner here. Great exterior styling, have gotten several thumbs up. Interior is nice. I professionally installed a portable Nav system (upper glove box) along with a hand free Moto V600 phone, and now the Altima has just about as many features as any BMW 3, Acura TL, Audi A4, but thousands less. The car looks bigger than Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat, and is the sportiest of them all. Slick car.
