Overview & Reviews
All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
- Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

Excellent Car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Monir - July 5 - 12:23 pmI was deciding between and Acura and the Altima, for the price, this Altima has the power I look for. Even though the interior doesnt have much, it can always be modified to be luxury. Handling is good, the looks beats the Acura anytime. I decided on the Altima for the pricing, power, gas mileage and looks.

BestBuy for the money - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Jim - June 21 - 1:10 amCar is fun to drive, looks very stylish, priced very well, have had no problems since purchased in July. The car has never been back to the dealer for anything except for maintenance. There is plenty of storage space, and a pass through trunk to haul long and bulky items if needed. The 4 cyl engine is very peppy.

A powerful elegant car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By SteveMcD - June 15 - 10:00 amWe bought the 3.5SL with everything but NAV. The interior is a vast improvement from previous years. It has a cockpit type feel to the front seats. The dashboard and controls are very well placed. The exterior styling is very nice with the few changes that were made. The xenons are very bright and look sharp. The most impressive thing Ive noticed is the incredible power this car has. The handling is tight, but the SL doesnt have the sport suspension that the SE has so it is a little less tight in sharp turns. The 5 speed auto Sportronic transmition is very nice. This is a phenominal car with tons of extras for the price!!

My first car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By TIFFANY - June 10 - 10:00 amI have been in love with this car since the day I got my liscense. Four years later, I finally bought the Altima and opted for the V6 (Great pickup 0-60 in seconds) and other upgrades. Considering I drive my moms Yukon, the Altima is super smooth and even has more horsepower. I went for leather seats and when I saw my car for the first time, I was impressed at the 2005s luxurious interior design. Its truly a beauty. I would def. recommend this car in a heartbeat. It looks great, drives like a dream and it super fun and sporty. The car inside is a quiet ride and the car itself is surprisingly comfortable. A month later, Im still pinching myself.

What a fun car/A willing dance partner - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Car fanatic - June 9 - 2:30 amI came from an 03 Maxima GLE which I loved, but the Altima beats it hands down in so many ways. The 4 cyl is amazing. Who needs 80 more ponies? Smooth, responsive, and wonderful growl when you hit the loud pedal. The interior is every bit as good,if not better than the Max. Roomy without being cumbersome. Far more tossable and the IRS makes the difference. Smooth ride with no evident loss of feel of control. Communicative steering is a joy. Light but solid. MPG so far has been around 23, but no highway yet; I expect at least 30. For you sporty types out there, drop it in 3rd on a twisty hilly country road. It stays in the sweet spot. Dont miss the old Max one bit.

Solid and fun - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Spaz - June 4 - 10:33 pmThis car is a whole lot of fun to drive and has been super reliable. All Ive had to do is scheduled maintenance. It had no problems on a 2k mile round trip through the Tahoe mountains through the high desert of Nevada and Utah and the mountains of Colorado in the middle of the 2006 heat wave. Totally fun and enough pick up for merging on LA highways.

Great Car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Brad - May 30 - 3:16 amThe styling, performance and overall feel of the car is very nice. Ive always owned a Honda (Accord and two Civics), but Im a Nissan fan now after owning the Altima. I bought it new and havent had any problems with the car. The only issue I had was after a couple weeks the car didnt start one morning. The local dealership was great and towed it in for me even on a Sunday. I contacted them the next day and they said it started right up. We still have no idea what happened but I havent had the issue again. My biggest complaint with the 05 Altima is the A/C vents on the dash... horrible design. The vents are a narrow vertical shape and has very bad horizontal control.
