This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Step away from the VW - 2005 Nissan Altima

After having a horrible experience with VW I researched my next purchase with a vengeance. I looked at the honda, Camry, Altima and theG6. I fell in love with the Nissan. Although the others were very compatible I could not justify spending the additional money for the Honda or Toyota and the G6 fell short of the hype. I received a 2.5S with the ABS & airbag pkg along with a few other goodies for $18,075. The car is quick off the line and extremely plush and comfortable for a 6’3” driver. I love the stereo and the interior layout, as well as the overall look of the car. I would recommend the Altima to anyone who wants an accord or Camry type quality at a more affordable price.

  • 4 years and still happy - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought my 3.5 SE new in 2005. I only have 28000 miles but I have had very few problems. The car has only been in the shop for routine maintenance. However, in march of 2009 I had to replace my battery. I have heard of others with this problem. Overall I am happy. The 3.5 engine has a lot of power. This is fun at stop lights and has gotten me out of a few jams on the freeway. The complaints about the road noise (esp in the back), turning radius, and cheap interior are valid. They are not prohibitive however. I live in DC now so the turning radius is more pronounced. I have taking this car on 400 mile trips (I can get 33 mpg on the highway) and have been completely satisfied.

  • Pretty Happy after 1 week - 2005 Nissan Altima

Traded a a 99 Nis Max (with bothersome engine prolems)for this car. Wanted an 05 Pathfinder but too much $$ for it. Altima is roomier than my old Maxima. Love the styling, love the interior. Handling is awesome - better than old Maxima. Engine feels like it is more "spirited" than 99 Maximas 195hp V6 but the Altimas 4 cylinder is more noisy - although the aggressive "growl" the motor makes somewhat fits the sporty character of the car. Convenience plus package adds very useable options. Got about 4K discount/rebate off sticker so Im happy with the price. Bottom line- Camry may be more refined but lacks any emotion. Altima is more fun to drive and has a welcomed personality!

This car is an extraordinary pleasure and alot of fun to drive. Zero to 60 in 6 seconds should be 4 seconds---it moves. It is comfortable and I feel very safe in this car. Unless something changes I will continue to buy the Altima. PS: My husband perfers my Altima over his V6 Camry.

  • Got it Today! - 2005 Nissan Altima

Just picked up a 2005 SE 3.5 today. Traded the wifes 99 Pathfinder. Had an excellent experience with the dealer, Autoway Nissan of Brandon. The car is a kick. Wife almost went for the 2.5 SL but the lack of ABS swayed her to the 3.5. Smoke in color. A real head turner. Only question is, how do I get my wife to let me drive it..

Weve had Nissans since 1993 and have been totally satisfied with them. On the road, my new 2005 Altima is getting 31.5 miles per gallon.
