This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • 2005 Altima SL over Accord EX - 2005 Nissan Altima

Nissan has won me over. Having owned a 95 Acura Legend, a 2001 Accord, and a 2003 Oddessy, I was a loyal honda customer - the key word is was. I test drove both cars, and felt the Altima was a better car in the top of the line trim vs the accord ex v6. The redesigned Altima interior for 2005 is a nice improvement, although some of the compartment doors still feel a little cheap. What sold me was the performance of the Nissan v6. It is smooth, throaty, and has gobs of power at the will of your right foot.

  • Altima 2005 2.5S 4cyl w continental 16 - 2005 Nissan Altima

I have had my altima for about 9 months and every thing is great except the tires. The continental 16 tires developed a vibration problem and I had to replace them at 13,000 miles. No alignment or balance problem, just severe cupping. My advise is to have the dealer replace these tires at the time of purchase with some other brand.

  • aaaahhhhhhh - 2005 Nissan Altima

There is absolutely nothing else to say about this car other than WOW. You need to get off your tail and go get one. I am still in shock that I own this car. Camry, Accord and the Mazda 6 aint got nothing on this car. Power, Design, Space, Did I say POWER, the inside design. If you are still reading this you need to go test drive one. If you test drive this car and not buy it you need serious help. I recommend starting this car and just listen to the engine roar.

  • Long lasting low maintenance - 2005 Nissan Altima

In 2004 bought 2005 model and during these 11 years and 195,000 miles did one tune-up, changed oil, filter, tires, breaks, and battery. In addition, I own 2010 Maxima and 2011 Altima. Comparing to my friends cars, Nissan is a way better than any other one.

  • Some quirks, love this car though - 2005 Nissan Altima
    By -

Bought my Altima used 6mths ago. I feel for the price I paid its well worth it. However, only 6,000 miles after buying it the crank shaft/cam sensors both went out. Ill just say the attitude I got from Nissan was less than caring. I dont want to feel discouraged from my car choice though due to that. My family has owned various Nissans and previously had good experiences. I wish the rear view mirrors bent back on the car. The previous owner had tinted windows and a Sirius radio installed so I enjoy that a lot. :)

  • Wonderful - 2005 Nissan Altima

This is my second Altima. We had 2004 2.5s. Thought the dash was cheap with the wheel covers. The dealer cut out a sun roof and added cheap leather. Never was repaired for anything. Bought a 3.5 se with leather and all the toys. Fast as a 300z but with size. Dash was super with 17in alloys. Great car for speeding tickets. Super exterior

  • An excellent buy - 2005 Nissan Altima

Just purchased the vehicle last week, and this one is much better than my 2002 Altima by all means! The interior is as good as the the new Honda Accord and it handles like a German vehicle. Anyone shopping in this segment should take a look at this vehicle, compare this with Accord and Camry side by side, you will find the Camry is light year behind in design and chassis dynamic. The only real competitor is only the Accord, but the exterior design of the current Accord is just as exciting as a speech from President Bush!
