Overview & Reviews
The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
- All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

After a year of ownership... - 2002 Nissan Altima
By PhurballDJ - January 24 - 2:00 am...I couldnt be happier. The Altima has given me no complaints thus far. The only times Ive been in the dealership have been for regular maintenance/oil changes. I love the engine -- plenty of punch for a 4- cylinder -- and the handling is great. And the amount of room in the interior and the trunk is terrific. Sure, they skimped a little on the interior materials, but they spent the money on the right stuff. This car truly is built for drivers!

Altima Leaves others In The DUST!!! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Stanmanh - December 7 - 8:20 pmNothing gives you more bang for the buck. The four cylinder is quick but the V-6 is lightning FAST and RESPONSIVE! There is a large difference in performance and features in the models. Gas mileage 22 city, 26 highway. The only part that I changed was the air filter. I replaced it with a K&N air filter ($40), this is a MUST HAVE since cars from the manufactur come with basic parts. The filter improved my overall gas mileage and added a few more horses thus a bit more torque.

Excellent Value - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Julie&Jeff - October 6 - 10:00 amWe got the 2.5S model with the standard transmission. Were glad we got the standard, it is so peppy and poweful, I cant even tell that it is a V-4. Were both very tall, over six feet, and can fit comfortably in the front of the back. Excellent ride. We hope to have it forever.

This is the best car I have ever owned! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By P.N. - September 29 - 10:00 amIve only had this car for a week and I already love this car. I have no complaints, the car handles and looks great. Every day people are telling me how great the car looks. I cant think of a car both American or Asian that is a better value. I was debating between a manaul and automatic transmision, Im very happy with the automatics performance. I would definitely recommend this vehicle.

This 240HP Altima Rocks! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By ChadPadera - July 26 - 10:00 amIf youre thinking about purchasing a Altima and cant decide between the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder - like I was - dont even think any further - go with the 240HP 6 cylinder. It is so much fun to drive and the 0-60 mph is faster than a GT V8 Mustang! Some people complain about the torque steer dont worry about it! Just hold onto the wheel. I really wanted a fully loaded new Altima. But, the price is right around $30,000 and I couldnt afford it - so I searched the net and found a fully loaded black Altima nearby with 12,000 miles for in the low low $20s.
