This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

The car is quiet - smooth and steady. The acceleration is instant (& fun) and the breaking is extraordinary. It just is so effortless. An extreme pleasure to drive this BEAUTIFUL car.

  • I love my Altima! - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought my Altima used with 17k miles on it to replace a smaller car that had been wrecked. I wasnt sure about a 4 door family sedan (always had been a "coupe" lady), but I needed something I could haul grandchildren in. It is fun to drive and I love the slightly aggressive lines. My teenage son said "Mom, this is the coolest car!" It has the 2.5l 4-cyl engine, & while the pep from the 6-cyl would be cool at times, I dont want to give up the fuel economy the 4-cyl has.

This car rides great. love the dash and leather inside the car. Bose stereo is so loud and crisp. Great looking car and the 3.5 SE is quick. Hold onto your hat!!!

great performance and head turning looks. the engine sound is fantastic and mileage is to die for 22-30mpg out of a big v6

  • Great Car - 2005 Nissan Altima

As a former Accord owner I compared the Accord, Camry and Altima. No comparison. Styling, size, room were all superior in the Altima. Nissan seems to be leading the pack with giving the market an aggressive looking option in the otherwise mundane four door sedan market.

I love this car. I am 69" tall and weigh 260lbs. and I fit super comfortably in it. The car drives excellent, handles great, and is very peppy for a 4 cyl. I was extremely surprised by its ability to accelerate from a complete stop, as well as when I am doing 60 m.p.h. on the freeway, the ability to accelerate to 75-80m.p.h. I have recommended this car to several of my friends, and so far 2 have bought one, and they agree with my feeling about this wonderful economic big- little car. I am completely satisfied with my purchase, ABC Nissan, and Jim Meadows, who my sales person, and was wonderful to work with.

  • 200k and going strong - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought this car used and have had it for the last 6 years. I havent been the best with maintenance on the car, and I think thats important to note. I regularly went 7-10k miles before an oil change. The car has over 200k miles and has had very few issues. Engine mounts have been replaced, ignition coil, rotors and wheel bearings... The only irritation Ive had is with the headlights. They have been replaced more than I would have expected and they get very cloudy. Otherwise this car is Ah maze ing! Amazing... My son and I took a road trip from Cali to Arizona and back (where it turned over 200k) and the car was completely reliable. We were comfortable and had fun driving fast and without caution to the age and mileage. The head unit and rear speakers were upgraded for current technology. My son is excited to have this car as a sophomore in college when I get a new one. We also own an Xterra... Oh should note the interior space is better than most midsize suv. Our family is much more comfy in the Altima then some suvs weve rented, way more space then the Xterra.

  • Say NO to Accord and Camry! Pick Altima! - 2005 Nissan Altima

The design of the Altima is awesome verses Camry or Accord! Camry is a dime a dozen on the streets! Accord is too bland! Altima is the a head turner! The only complaint is the leather seats is a bit hard. I wish it was more softer leather. The 175hp 4 banger is a rocket! Smooth like a six and the fuel economy is super freaky good!! Also, disappointed in the "BOSE" system. Too hollow sounding for me. Cant adjust it for the rich sound that Im use too. Lexus RX has a more awesome sounding system and its not even a BOSE.

  • Test drove them all - 2005 Nissan Altima

We drove 18 vehicles in our buying process and the Altima stood out front far byond the others. (many which were priced 3 to 5 thousand more. After driving the 4 cylinder then the 6 there was no doubt that the xtra hp was worth the money. however those on a tighter budget should not let that scare you because the 4 banger has all the pep that most would need. We wound up getting one with everything (including the Nissan after market option pkg.) The only things that I find so far that could be improved on is the radio display is difficult to read as well as the odometer computer functions for mpg, dte, mte and so on. Also the turnning radis is tight.

  • gutsy family hauler - 2005 Nissan Altima

Approx. 2500 mi. driven on a 2005 SE-R bought used, mixed higway and city. This is a car that begs to be driven hard: self restraint is sometimes difficult to exercise. Performance is exciting, even if not exhilarating, much more than enough for the daily grind--you can have some serious fun on occasions. The car strikes a good balance between comfort and performance; but sure it is not a floaty luxury cruiser. Nobody complained about it, however, on an 800-mi highway ride with 4 adults. Creature comforts are OK, fairly simple except for the fancy bose sound and the leather seats that smell so nice. Overall, I got 25-26 mpg paying some attention to my driving, with some fun at times.
