This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

tupperware car - beautiful to look at but build quality and materials are junk. it has been in the shop more times than i can count with a less than helpful dealership(stealership). had problems starting, ABS light came on for no reason, crank position sensor went, bouncy ride/rear shocks lack rebound damping, intermittent buzzing from under dash area, turn signals stop clicking, lots of rattles etc. Stay away from this one and buy a camry or accord.

I purchased the car and less than 200 miles and the transmission does not want to shift out of park, The interior brake light will only come on when the shifter wants to come out of park. The exterior brake lights come on but thats not the problem, the transmission can be released by a pushing a key into the key release slot. But its definitely a hassle to have to have to put a key in there every time to shift into a different position. And thats what the dealership told me to do.

I beg you please, please, please go look at all of the problems with Nissan Altima on the internet. On a 2005 2.5s there are over 400 Technical Service Bull (TSB). They do not back their products. They have people from the Phillipines trying to answer your questions, you cannot understand them. Never, Never, Never buy a Nissan Product

Brought car 11 months ago, has left me stranded twice & towed in. In shop at least once a month. No motor noise when brought car, now motor noise gets louder everyday. Depending on whom you talk to there are a 100 different reasons but nothing to worry about as it is still under warranty (per Leith parts manager). If gets too bad can replace engine if complain enough. Have had to replace fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel cap, repair transimission and fuel pump. Would not buy another Nissan from Leith. The parts department is a nightmare. No two people can agree on what was done to your vehicle or what was wrong with it. Rarely does work report and verbal report agree.

I just leased an Altima fron All- Brands in hackensack njin feb/05. The car had problems with the ignition switch right from the start. I brought it back twice but the dealer didnt fix anything . THEY ACTUALLY LEFT THE CAR OVER NIGHT IN AN UN-FENCED UN- ATTENDED LOT WITH THE KEYS IN THE CAR AN THE DOORS UN-LOCKED and they say theyll need about a week to fix the car. That means that a month old car will have been in their shop for more then a week. They wont give me a loaner and they wont spend the $ to get the needed part fedexd. Talk about a company that only cares about you until they get your $!-Thats NISSAN. THis is my 3rd Nissan but its my last.

This car has been the biggest headache. It has been in the dealer since the date I purchased it. I have maintained the vehicle and for some reason Nissan has not recalled the crank shift sensor. The car has turned off on me while driving the car.It has happened to me on the expressway which was very scary. A month ago my car was at the dealer for this same exact reason I was informed it should not happen anymore now my car is back in the dealer. Such a big safety issue being overlooked.
