This Year's Model Updates:

The 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class sees additions to its standard and optional packages' features lists. Minimal visual changes include newly standard chrome accents (grille, door handles and exhaust tips) that spice up the looks of this year's ML. Last year's ML500 model has been replaced by the ML550 -- the number change signifies a new 5.5-liter V8. It provides 80 more horsepower than the ML500's V8. The ML350 "Edition 10" celebrates the 10th anniversary of the M-Class with special exterior and interior trim, as well as a few more luxury features.

Pros:
  • A wide range of engines, comfortable for five, sure-footed in bad weather, high-quality interior materials and construction.
Cons:
  • Regular V6 is short on low-end torque, no third-row seat option, expensive for its segment, antiquated electronics interface.

  • Awesome ML! - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

This is my 3rd ML starting with a 2000 ML320, then a 01 ML430 and now this awesome 08 ML350. The advancements in technology, comfort, performance and design are amazing. My ML has almost every option including the Bi-Zenon headlights which are incredible in form and function. Even the power tailgate makes life so much more pleasant. Mercedes began the luxury SUV line and has totally raised the bar with the latest ML350. What an awesome vehicle.

  • Comfort & Joy - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

I have only had the car for a week but I have a few observations for those who are looking at the 320 CDI. First, it was louder than I thought it would be, coming from a Toyota it is an adjustment. Second, the shifting is not as smooth as I remember when I test drove but not bad. Having said that, I think the car is superb. The mileage is pretty good, I have been getting between 19 - 22 in the city so far. The interior is unbelievable, very posh and comfortable. The controls are very intuitive which is nice. Put everything on auto and it does the rest. Rear cameras should be standard on all SUVs, what a great feature! All around great vehicle.

  • Exterior design does it for ML350 - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Hands down rides much nicer than BMW X5. Needs leather standard on a vehicle of this caliber. Brakes are a little mushy if I had to complain at all.

  • Worst car I have ever purchased - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

Purchased the car new, 2008. After 11 months the car stalled out on me while driving! I brought it to MB and they told me they fixed it. Happened again and again. Life threatening problem! I tried to get MB to switch out the car but no way. Too much to ask, being safe! MB put new tires on the vehicle and the back tire leaks bad. They cant fix a tire either! I have brought the car in I cant count how many times. Still leaks! Car swerves all over the place. Horrible service, MB corporate doesnt care about us either. Only the $$$$$. I went back to BMW. The "7" handles like a dream and I dont feel like I am putting my familys life in harms way. Never again Mercedes!

The car looks great and has a fantastic ride, The kids love the dual dvds and the satelite radio is easy to use for us. The ride is smooth and it handles very well.

  • Great Experience - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

This car(truck) is smooth to drive, relatively nimble, quick, stylish inside and out, fuel economical, solid, sufficiently large and luxurious. It has all the gadgets and some time studying the manual to operate these gadgets is a must. On a recent trip from Ontario to Myrtle Beach and return, 3561.88 KM including mostly highway with speeds 65 to 85 mph and some local driving, we burned 307.44 Liters of diesel resulting in 32.73 mpg(imperial) or 27.25 mpg(US). The vehicle has just over 3000 miles and mpg should improve in the next year. There have been no faults large or small found. I consider myself to be easy on vehicles and found Saabs, Volvos, and Chryslers of the past to be excellent.

  • Best SUV I have ever driven! - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Have had the car for couple of months now. Great power under the hood - the turbo really makes a difference. The fuel economy is excellent. Once you get the hang of it you can get about 32MPG highway and about 20 city - I get about 25-26MPG for 50-50 city/highway. Not bad for an SUV with this size an power. Cant mention enough about the torque! All in all the best SUV I have driven (compared to Lexus, BMW models). Have taken it to the mountains - starts with ease and pure pleasure to drive up hill - gasoline engines are no match to the power!!!

  • Smooth and solid - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

After 1700 miles I can say this is a solid, safe, smooth package. The V6 turbo diesel, 7 speed transmission and AWD are a remarkable combination. The engine stays between 1,200 and 2,200 rpm most of the time, and with barely noticeable shifts or sound. The transmission provides engine braking automatically. Air suspension is adaptable and smooth. I drove up and down snowy, unplowed hilly roads all day yesterday without slips or slides, mostly in the Airmatic raised position. Surprisingly tight turning radius. Mileage 22-25 mixed Seating is very comfortable and interior appointments (brushed aluminum/ ultrasuede) are striking. Nice cargo management system. No defects at 1750 miles.

  • This SUV is underrated - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Have only had this ML320 for 5 weeks, but wow! I have had BMWs, Cadillacs and Jeeps, but nothing compares. Great to drive, unbelievable performance, and the mileage is tremendous, better than advertised. Need to get more experience with all the features, but so far, so great!

  • An excellent SUV combines the goodness - 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

I own a Toyota minivan. I have tried Lexus Rx and GX 470, BMW X5, Toyota 4-RUnnner and Highlander hybrids before I settle down to this ML 320 CDI. All the Toyotas and Lexuss have the similar driving trait and characteristic, includ quiet, comfort but boring. BMW is impressive for its road handling and driving capability but it is louder and coarse. Its electronics is too complicated with a lots of trouble. The Mercedes combined all those goodness plus the advantage for fuel economy. So far I got 22-24 MPG combine local and highway in the break in period. The truck is more comfort and quieter than Lexuss and Toyotas. The road handling and drivability is definitely better than Lexus and Toyota
