Overview & Reviews
The TeleAid emergency calling system is now standard on every M-Class model, and smart dual-stage front airbags know when to deploy with partial force or full force. All models also feature expanded off-road capabilities with new downhill traction control and a new crawling mode for very slow and steep off-roading. Finally, a new M-Class sport package debuts this year.
- Safe, comfortable, car-like ride and handling, excellent bad-weather vehicle.
- Reputation for poor build quality, looks like a minivan, not particularly adept off-road.

good car - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By mycar43 - November 24 - 10:00 amI purchased this car as an executive car with 6000. miles on it. I really like the car however it has been back to the dealer at least 4x since purchased. seat belts always hang when released this has caused many dents in my door jam from the kids closing the doors with the seat belt hanging in the door jam. many cracks in the interior panels which service replaced, glove compartment door broke, as well as problems with the drivers side window not working.

Best Vehicle Ever - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Sherlock - May 31 - 10:00 amIts a luxury car with the cargo room of a van. The TeleAid Service is a life saver. I found out last week when my battery finally went dead in a dark, isolated area and I had forgotten my cell phone. Their first concern was for my safety and well being and then wanted to make calls for me since I had no phone. Help arrived within 10 minutes and replaced my battery for free. When I bought this luxury vehicle I also bought luxury roadside assistance.

Never buy anything else! - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By ex LR Owner - October 25 - 11:23 pmI have owned many high end SUVs. The M Class is by far the best. Lets clear a few things up. It is a Mercedes. Dont expect to drive a year and never have any problems. That said, I have put 15,000 miles on this truck in less then a year and only had 1 minor problem. MB service is amazing, you never pay for anything. The truck handles like a sports car, no joke. I dumped a LR Disco for this and never looked back. The dealer is a pleasure to deal with. Dont buy this unless you are a real driver though. If you dont know what an apex is, if youre no interested in a 0-60 time, if you dont care about road holding index, this truck is not for you. You simply will not value it.

Still Luv It - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Still Luv It - September 5 - 2:00 amI have nothing but praise for this vehicle as it is exciting to drive (Sport), has served its purpose (Utility), and has been a good daily commuter (Vehicle). I still get plenty of looks with the Sport package and the service received from the Cincinnati store has been impeccable. It must be said that any and all cars will have minor issues arise throughout its ownership and this ML320 Sport has been no different - although nothing has been horribly wrong (worst was when the window stuck in the down position during a winter drive...Roadside Assistance took care of it within 25 minutes).

A luxury and fun to drive SUV - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By a women driver - July 14 - 1:16 pmI have close to 70,000 miles on this ML55 and I didnt have any problems with it. Very fine detail in the leather interior front seats, lots of punch in the engine when you need it most, and the transmission has very smooth shifting. Brakes are great but make sure you use ceramic pads or the wheels will get dirty. Anyone who wants performance will have to pay for it at the pump so dont think its free. If you drive expensive cars youll pay for it. Im very happy, Its an A+.

Love It! - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Dodie - May 30 - 1:00 pmThis car is expensive to fix but I love it! I bought this car used without a warranty and everything I have had to fix i.e. brakes, shocks, oil changes, both head lights, a tune up; was not covered by warranty anyway. The dealership I go to now gives out airline miles according to how much you spend getting your car repaired so that makes the cost of maintenance/repairs somewhat better for the consumer.

ML320 - 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By moman - September 20 - 2:00 amReliability and comfort are two of the most iportant features of the 2001 ML320. Its rich feeling on the interior and sleek exterior mask the rugged on or off road capabilities. It hauls people and cargo like a truck, but it can play dress up with any autos.
