A completely redesigned M-Class debuts for 2006.
- Fresh styling inside and out, comfortable for five, extensive array of safety features, surefooted in bad weather, easy-to-use navigation system

The Best ML 500 ever - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Louis - January 26 - 2:46 pmI had a 2002 BMW X5 4.4 and it was a nice SUV, but it doesnt compare to this new ML500. The quality of the ride, the comfort, performance and fun to drive. We love the changes that were made to the styling of the new ML.

A horriible let down - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By a horrible let down - January 10 - 4:00 pmWe purchased our car in 10/05. We were absolutely thrilled. Three months later my car broke down in the middle lane on the highway. Every light came on inside and the care died. It was the engine. The dealer replaced the engine after having my car in the shop for two weeks. A month later there was a nick in the transmission which required another stay in the shop. 3 months later two recalls were fixed. This car was a horrible let down. You can hear and feel the car shift gears. We are actually looking for another car to buy. I have two kids and it does not offer the reliability that a mom would feel comfortable driving. It was truly a let down.

Best SUV - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Faisal Farooq - December 4 - 8:36 amGreat SUV. Traded in 2003 Escalade ESV for ML500. Had test driven Range Rover Sport HSE, BMW X5 4.4 and Porsche Cayenne S, but ML500 is the best. Great Style, quality and faster than all of its competitors. 0-60 mph for ML500 is 6.7 sec. (X5 4.4 - 6.8, Porsche Cayenne S - 6.9, Range Rover Sport Super Charged - 7.3 (HSE - 8.2))

Very disappointed - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Vicki - November 16 - 10:00 amI purchased my first Benz and positively my last. The SUV in general was pretty good until a couple of months later after I purchased it (brand new) Its been a nightmare since then. Something had to be fixed every now and then,at least 3-4 times a year. When it was still under warranty,it wasnt a big deal. Then big things started breaking after the warranty expired. I can now say its a piece of junk. My 2 Lexus RX 330s and a Nissan pathfinder in the past had not been in the shop for repairs collectively as my ML was. Finally got rid of it and traded it for an Infiniti. Whew! what a relief.

Not Recommended - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By ChicagoScott - October 6 - 3:10 amI have had this vehicle in to the service department for jerking transmission problems six times at two different dealerships. They claim it is a known problem and that there is a "software upgrade" coming from MB Corporate. The service experience and the lack of solution makes this my first and last Mercedes purchase. Too bad because we really liked the vehicle. Also, the check coolant light is on constantly. They told us it was an "electrical problem" and didnt fix it. The sunroof will not close unless you hit button two to three times due to a sensor problem.

Great SUV and MPG - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By gemesq - September 12 - 8:23 amI am not sure why this SUV is listed as 16 mpg. I regularly get 22-24 miles per gallon on the freeway and around 18 mpg in town. For an SUV, you cant ask for better. We bought this SUV used and have loved it ever since. I coveted this new model when it came out in 2006 and wanted one then. This is a safe, fun to drive SUV with all the necessary luxury items a driver could want. I agree with other reviewers that it seems louder on the highway, but I was driving a passenger sedan before and from what I have heard, all SUVs are louder on the highway, including the Lexus which prides itself on being super quiet. Overall, a great SUV.

Great SUV IF its working - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By flip900rr - August 18 - 1:28 pmWe purchased an 2006 ML500 a year ago. It has been in the shop at least 4 times and over $10K of repairs. I am glad we purchased the extended warranty and it is still covered. Thank God! Anways, if this suv was just reliable it would be perfect. My wife and I love driving this vehicle. The problem it is always in the shop. We are thinking about trading it in because it a hassle taking it to the shop every 3-4 months. This is by far the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned.

Big step up from MDX - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Mike63 - August 6 - 5:20 amJust sold my wifes MDX and picked up a 2006 ML350. While the MDX was incredibly reliable and practical, it drove like an appliance. The Benz is a big step forward in performance. The engine feels much more powerful than her 2002 MDX and the transmission is by far the most seamless Ive ever driven. Its much quieter on the highway than the MDX and just feels more substantial too. Braking is much better (not a strong suit of the Acura). Overall a great SUV. I hope it proves to be reliable.

By jdgreav es - July 24 - 11:30 pmThis model is much improved over the 2004 ML350 that I previously owned. This is my 5th ML and is far superior to previous models.
