  • ML 350 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Traded an 04 Tahoe in April for the ML 350. Drive 100 miles a day and have put 19k miles on it since purchase to include a trip from Texas to New York and back. MPG runs 21 for my commute and during the road trip averaged 23.5 mpg (off the computer) at 75 mph. I find it very comfortable as I am 6-3 and 235 lbs. The handling is superb and is quick enough to move when needed. I tow an 18.5 ft ski boat with no effort. I have had zero mechanical or electrical problems. I have read in previous reviews about the quirky transmission and can feel it at low speed (10 mph or less) accelerate and stop situations, but do not find it to be an issue.

  • Unhappy with 2006 Mercedes ML500 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

After 8 days of happy ownership and only 200 miles, our ML500 had serious transmission problems, couldnt be driven and it spent the next 4 days in the dealers shop. All this, after waiting an extra 2 months for delivery so "Mercedes could be sure of no quality problems". This was our departure from 15 years of owning Lexus...and we are going back to Lexus. It is a shame because the car is a beauty and rides incredibly well. Too bad the Germans have forgotten how to design and manufacture a car for reliability. By the way, the Mercedes navigation compared to Lexus is far inferior....Lexus makes it so easy to use. When your emotion grabs you to go for style...think quality/reliability.

  • Upgrade from 2000 ML320 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

I recently bought this car used, with 29500 miles. I traded in a 2000 ML320 with 78000 miles, which I loved and never had a problem with. This newer model is beautiful, solid, and fun to drive. I dont like all the changes to where things are located, however - the window buttons, cup holders, gas filler, and gear shift have all been moved. I also prefer more traditional knobs to all the pushbuttons.

  • 2006 ML350 - excellent SUV - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

The 2006 ML 350 has more than enough power especially when bolted to the 7 speed automatic transmission. I do not know why anyone would purchase the ML500 after driving the ML350. Acceleration is adequate to any task short of the drag strip. The car is extremely quiet even at high speeds. The Harmon Kardon stereo is the best factory set-up I have heard and is significantly better than the Bose systems I have had. I do not like the cruise control stalk as it is too close to the turn signal stalk. You must also pay close attention to options as they can be confusing. Overall an excellent SUV and MB provides lifetime roadside assistance at no additional cost!

  • Unreliable overrated verhicle - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

    - Balance Shaft replaced - 8 sensors replaced in 8 month span - 2 Ignition coils replaced - MAF sensor replaced - ECU Connector replaced - Headlight wiring insulation cracked (and shortcut) - The wheel wells are covered in some kind of fabric(?) which will come loose - Rear bulbs keep burning out - Subwoofer blown - Rear windshield wiper does not complete cycle - Interior vents adjusters falling apart (glued?) - Ratting in left front door - Rear hatch rattling - Lots of rattling when interior is cold - Seat Belt lock stops working - Rear ashtray fell apart - Idling erratic I traded it in for an Acura MDX, what a breeze, no rattles, smooth ride, and all options standard

  • Some issues - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

Love the drive, the ride, and the looks... But Mercedes has some issues to work out. Nickel and diming on the options list for a $50,000 truck any way you slice it - doesnt leave the buyer with a warm and fuzzy. Had a 2001 ML - Dimming Mirrors, memory seats et al came with the package. Why cheap up? Nav/Radio/CD has died on me 3 times. Alternator took two weeks to get part after it failed. Hard downshift issue continues to be a problem - especially as I use it in moderate off-road. (Although DSL works great!) And Ive only had it since mid-September! If you go off road at all, get the air shocks. 19" wheels otherwise will bottom under moderate conditions.

  • Superb SUV - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

I bought the AMG Package. Handling is tight and hugs road. Appearance is sporty and looks beefy. Interior is very spacious and all controls are easy to reach. Seats are very comfortable. Couldnt ask for a better car! 10 rating all around!

  • Extremly Impressed - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

This is my first SUV after 40 years of driving. As soon as I started the test drive I knew this ML350 Benz was for me.The vehicle rides very smooth, absorbs all bumps and hugs the road, especially on highway curves. It handles extremly well due to its easy steering and great turning radius. A quick response to acceleration when needed, and an awesome braking system help add to a fun and excellent driving experience.

  • Jims ML Mercedes - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

I really like this vehicle. It is more than I expected. It runs like a dream, drives wonderful, and the seats are outstanding. Workmanship is excellent both exterior and interior. I only wish it was 5 inches wider in the luggage compartment so golf clubs would fit sideways. I even hauled a large piece of furniture from Penn to VA Would consider buying another or its counter part the R350 wagon.

  • My best SUV yet - 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

This is the quietest vehicle wev eowned. Due to health problems, I have not had this one off road yet, but inclement weather driving has convinced me it is fully capable as any smooth road SUV. Jeeps, Hummers, G-wagon, etc., are the rock and mud SUVS, and the MLs are not in that group. Getting to the spot that you really need one of those, the new ML is at the top of the list.
