This Year's Model Updates:

Late in 2003, the ML350 replaced the ML320, meaning a larger (3.5-liter) V6 with 232 horsepower supplanted the 215-horse, 3.2-liter V6 used previously. The AMG-tuned ML55 has been discontinued, while a DVD-based navigation system is now optional for the ML350.

Pros:
  • Safe, comfortable, brisk performance, surefooted in bad weather.
Cons:
  • On-road handling eclipsed by newer crossover SUVs, gets pricey fast if buyer gets tempted by too many options.

Only a month old and has seen 2 legitimate snow/ice storms. Handling is phenomenal. If youre looking for a cushy luxury ride, this SUV is not for you. Its a true german vehicle.

First Luxury SUV purchase. Benz was chosen primarliy because of safety features, 4 year initial service (included) (i.e. oil changes), and tele- aid communication system (simliar to OnStar). Vehicle also has good towing capability, and lots of room on the inside.

My 04 ML350 is my 4th ML; I was hit a 55 head on in my 99 and was uninjured. These are incredible vehicles, best safety available, great on/off road. Lacks come luxury features and mpg is horrible even w/v-6. Tight turning ratio, good seats; very heavy and capable. If you want a SUV that is very safe, handles well, comfortable, holds and tows lots of cargo, this is a great buy. The newer models are even better driving, but lack the turning ration and low range gear for extreme conditions. Drivers need to be aware of how heavy it is when braking and anticipating turns. The amount of steel and safety features are simply unavailable elsewhere. Eats tires and brakes, but stops very well.

My 3rd ML since 1998. This one is the best. 8 air bags, super brakes and handling on all surfaces. 13-15 mpg city, 20 intercity at steady 70 mph. Ive driven MLs in snow, ice, slush, 15 below zero, wet and Ive never been disappointed. Although dated after 6 years the stylingis still better than most newer suvs.

Most impressive, I walked away from a 55mph front end crash -- completely unhurt. Sure,it isnt perfect, but there is nothing out there -- for any price, much less the low $40,000 range that offers the safety, warranty, utility or value. Ask the BMW or Volovo dealer if they even offer a factory, extended warranty -- they dont It may not blow anyone away with styling or any other singular aspect, but once you drive one through a bad storm, youll appreciate what it does very well, which is get you where ever you need in safety and comfort.

Well Im still OK with this car. Just put new tires on it, Toyo Proxys, and it seems to have gotten rid of the road noise. The Dunlops stink! They just seem to be way too soft and as they got some age on them the ride was terrible, bouncing and swaying everywhere. This car has had zero problems mechanically and the dealership replaced the 2 back side panels as the clearcoat was coming off. (each side of the rear glass) I still think that for the money Mercedes could put a little more into this vehicle. ie: lumbar, power tilt and telescopic wheel. But go see if your Lexus can move like this!

Purchased as "Cross over vehicle" to reduce cars in the family. Use MBZ now both as in town car and as an SUV for snow covered mountain transportation. First trip in the snow car performed very well. No slipping, easy handling. Plenty of room for cargo and a large dog. Easy to handle and park in the city as well.

Love this vehicle except for the electronic quirks. Every so often the doors lock and will not unlock even with the key and certainly not with the remote. The memory seats lose their memory and the console computer loses the date and the language defaults to German. I have had it in three times for this and even changing the computer has not stopped these intermident problems. However, over all I am very satisfied with the power, finish and reliability of the M-Class
