This Year's Model Updates:

All M-Class models get an interior facelift available in one of three new colors, optional third-row seating and a Touch Shift automanual transmission. ML320 buyers get body-color bumpers and trim, real walnut inside, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, revised interior fabric, seatback map pockets and footwell lamps. In addition to these items, a standard navigation system, high-grade leather, and heated seats come on all ML430s.

Pros:
  • Lots of interior space, quite comfortable, carlike ride and handling, excellent snow vehicle.
Cons:
  • Poor reputation of build quality, looks like a minivan, not particularly adept off-road.

  • Lame as the others say - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

In three years, Ive been to the dealer for many issues from the SRS light (twice), CD player, seats slide, Sunroof chatters, Brakes go out at 25K (undersized I feel), driver window switch, ESp light, etc. Tires wear out around 28K. My carfax report can tell it all. Very disapointed in a 45K MB, would have been better off in a Denali, Tahoe, or Ford. Friend has two ML and no problems?? Go figure.

  • Didnt know I was Buying a Chrysler! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

My ML320 has been great mechanically but a disaster with the electronic systems. I have had problems with power windows, seats (both sides), sterio, cd player, overhead trip computer, gas gauge, heated seats, rear wipers, ac adapters and third row seats. Service has been great (Im on a first name basis with them). MB extended my warrantee but its not enough. It is in the shop too often, it takes 2 weeks for an appointment and then I have to wait for parts. Too many problems! I thought I was buying the best. How disappointing to find that I bought a very expensive Chrysler!

  • Im scared - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

I bought this thinking I would own it for years and put 150,000 miles on it. Five months later Im trying to get rid of it. So far its spent 20 days at the dealership. The shops been great, but the problems keep coming back. Power steering quit twice. Brakes quit (pedal to the floor) and took over a week to fix. Replaced shocks, brakes, all with less than 40k on the car. Whats worse is that every time it goes to the dealer they have to air ship parts from Alabama. Appearantly they are type specific for each car. I love driving the car, but I cant imagine the repair bills once it goes off warranty. Would I do it again? NO!

  • What A Lemon - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

Trouble started 10 days past qualifying for the lemon law - met all stipulations except the time period. Towed numerous times for the same problem to the same dealership (due to a move not the selling dealership). Never could fix for any length of time. Regional service manager wouldnt return calls, Mercedes USA wouldnt help. Would NEVER recommend one.

  • My First and Last Mercedes...Never Again - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

Motor was replaced at 20,000 miles. Repeated transmission leaks, Power stearing went out, windows failed several times, goo smeared up the windows from inside the door the first summer, sun roof failed, numerous "check engine" lights (in addition to that listed above) requiring trips to the dealer for repair. A/C is inadequate for the size of the vehicle (corrected in later year models) Mercedes mechanics and customer service has been excellent. They certainly get enough practice with the M-Class.

  • Mercedes Should Be Ashamed.............. - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

Its apparent that the 2000 ML 430 is a lemon. I have gone on various sites and people from all over are having the same exact problems. The windows wont roll down, the doors wont lock, the brakes always need replacing, the exterior lights are always blowing, the power steering went out, the sun roof gets stuck, the interior is coming apart, and now when I stop at lights it cuts off and wont start for about 30 to 40 minutes. this happens at least once a week. From my understanding these vehicles were built in the U.S. If I wanted an American car I would have bought a Ford. Mercedes should do a recall on these vehicles. The repairs needed on the vehicle are more than its worth. Seriously!

  • all style, no substance - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

I liked the styling and the Mercedes-Benz brand. I owned an E320 and thoroughly enjoyed it but my 2000 M-Class has been nothing but trouble. Ive spent $5,000 in 12 months on repairs, brakes, rotors, leaking seals, pumps, etc. Curently, it wont run without stalling and the dealerhip cant seem to find out what is wrong. Theve had it for four days!

  • ML320 new engine mounts - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

The car is fun driving; safe and sturdy, even on slippery roads. The dealership offers excellent support. But the cars reliability is poor. Even under warranty it required many repairs. And lots more thereafter. Excessive costs to maintain vehicle make it unattractive. Support from MBUSA not great either.

  • 50k junk - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
    By -

vehicle has been in the shop more times than I care to remember, I bought this for my wife thinking it was the best I could do for her. It really hurts to see what a piece of junk this thing is. She still likes it, but I have grown to hate it. also have a SL500 with 75,000 mi it cost over 6k in repairs last summer as it has continous electrical problems. It appears that MB has no quality. MB shop said to consider what they mean when thay say "engineered like no other" I thought it meant great cars. Bernie Doran Centerburg, Ohio
