This Year's Model Updates:

TeleAid comes standard on every CLK model this year, and the front windows lower slightly when you open the doors and seal (foop!) tight when you close them.

Pros:
  • Sleek styling, solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats.
Cons:
  • Heavy steering, tiny backseat/large blind spots in convertibles, some cheap-feeling interior switches, intrusive traction control system.

All in all I have to say that the Mercedes is a good car. Bought it used with 49k and the light bulb inside the speedometer went out, was $200 to replace. The pixels in the speedometer that show the gear and the temperature and the time started fading out. I have the extended Starmark warranty on it so I didnt pay a dime and they replaced the speedometer entirely and threw in the bulb for free! Car handles amazingly, not horrible on gas for a V8 (15-17mpg) Great acceleration, great handling, would definitely only recommed if you buy with warranty, otherwise the maintenance is not worth it $800 recommended maintenance services are a bit pricey every few thousand miles

Classy, compact, powerful, surprisingly economical around town and on the road; solid build quality, no cowl shake, voice-activated phone and stereo/CD controls a treat; a great road car, eats up the miles in perfect security with predictable handling

Have had the car 4 years from new and it still feels like new. Some irritating problems like rusting wjeel nuts, poor heating and ventilation electronics and cheap fixtures in some parts of the interior. Performance OK for this class.Great residual value, but I plan to keep the car for a quite a few more years.

My CLK 55 reminds me of the muscle cars of the 70s but with the finesse and practicality of the 21st century. This car may be driven as a family car but when needed, the 380 LB/FT of torque will launch you into a neck snapping experience. I have managed to trash BMW M3S as well as a few Porsches. The car was built so well balanced that the AMG massaged engine fits well with the chassis and suspension of the whole package. I believe I have found the perfect supercar for todays needs

  • nice car - 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I am pretty happy with the car. It has a solid ride. The only problems with the car have been some clicking sounds in the driver door. This car is stylish and drives like a sports car. After driving a new sport edition E320 I realized the CLK is much more sporty than I ever imagined.

  • Why drive 55? - 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Ill tell you why, because it flat out blows the doors off of everything offered by BMW, and most of the other pseudo-sports cars out there. Perfect handling, face pulling acceleration, drop dead looks, put this car in a class all its own. Seats conform to your shape by controlled air bladder, leather is of the finest quality. This car can quickly move from being an in your face - burn the tires off street racer, to becoming the very essence of a sophisticated elegant example of what a fine automobile should look and handle like.

  • Excellent MB Classic - 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

The 2001 CLK in my opinion is going to be a classic. The design is sleek and traditional along with cutting edge technology. It has an excellent punch to it, especially it being the 3.2 and if you use your gear shifter, you will be in for an adventure!

  • Not what I was expecting - 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Lots of electrical and electronic problems. Everytime the dealership repaired one problem they seemed to create (2). Example on 3rd attempt to get auto-up feature on window to stop dropping the window down, they pulled the door panel and found corrosion.Replaced window parts. Obviously the lost power to vital areas and scrambled all the memory features, mirror controls, etc. Back to the dealership for another week. Replaced windshield and damaged exterior and interior trim pieces. So many problems I dont remember them all.

  • Meets all expectations - 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

This is a compact, powerful package that is both stylish and fast. Ive had to watch my foot on the accelerator to avoid rear-wheel spin. The lines and contours are smooth. Surprisingly decent size trunk.
