This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings freshened exterior styling to the C-Class. A new dash, redesigned seats and tweaked trim pieces help to polish the interior up a bit, as well. A new audio system with six speakers and a CD player is standard across the board. Further updates include an improved short-throw six-speed manual transmission and revised suspension tuning. A DVD-based navigation system is newly available, while the C320 wagon has been discontinued. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat.

  • Solid Value and Fun - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

The C230 has been a solid and reliable purchase and wouldnt hesitate to do it all over again. It has the classic MB good looks in a package that is fun to drive without hitting the wallet in a bad way. The 1.8L Kompressor engine provides ample performance and zip. It is both fast and quick as well as being responsive to the touch. My C230 has 50,000 miles on it and has yet to see a service bay for other than the scheduled maintenance. Its fuel economy is in keeping with other 1.8L engines. Bottom line... I never get tired of driving it and plan on keeping it a long time.

  • Wow car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I have no regrets in getting my 05 C240. I love everything about the car. Interior not only looks great, but is very confortable even on long trips. Only wish is the car should have 17" wheels instead of the 16" stock.

  • C55 AMG--four door rocket! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

The C55 AMG is a truly unique/special car. Its sleek look is extremely deceptive. The only problem I have with the car is the digital audio system by Harman/Kardon. The majority of the sound comes from the front, not the rear. Overall, the car is fantastic, and a vehicle I plan on keeping for several years. If you want a four-door beast, and at the same time, have all the luxury/performance you can handle, the C55 is for you.

  • Disappionted - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This car looks amazing from the outside. The handling is exceptional, too bad there are too many problems. I drove this one off the lot and have had nothing but problems. The car veered to the right and it took Mercedes 3 trips to the dealer to fix. At 10K engine leaks. I have been in the shop 7 times in 18 months for a non working radio. After having a loaner for 14 weeks I finally got MBUSA to buy back this car. Too bad because I love to drive this car but tired of the problems. Mercedes is not what it used to be. Replaced it with a 2007 Lexus 350 .

  • Fun and Prestige - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

The new 2005 MB C230 Sedan is not only fun and comfy to drive but also delivers nods and gazes of recognition and admiration. Hence it is not easy to summarize ones experience since the latter qualities are hard to measure and quantify. The sporty trim and structure makes the ride and handling a little more stiff and noisy, but one has to accept these because it is a SPORT sedan, not a regular sedan.

  • Early in the life of the new Benz - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

The C230 replaced a 2002 launch edition MINI cooper. The C230 is a much different car, more comfort, no where near the razor edge handling of the MINI. MINI had reliability problems from day 1. Service could never fix the issues. MB dealer treated the customer fairly with respect, unlike MINI service. Leagues more power than MINI, darn near the same mileage.

  • Looks more expensive than its class - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

We purchased our C230 this past August, and does this car ever turn heads! People often mistake it for a $65 - $70K car. The MB personnel at the dealership, from sales to service, were/are 100% pleasant and professional!

  • Great Car with exceptional balance! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Bought it used at 13k miles in 2/2006 and its 62K now in 6/2010. No problem whatsoever (but I dont race or abuse it though, always garaged), solid and well-built, its powerful when needed (thanks to the Supercharger), fuel economical when driving conservatively (4 cylinder topped 36mpg in 2 hour trip on secondary hwy with A/C set to 1, backseat fits 2 adults almost 6 feet tall (my car pool). Panoramic roof fills the car with openness, trunk is so roomy and practical with both backseat folded down, styling is subjective (just the right balance- I love it!)

  • A head turner - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

It is the car of my dreams, it combines sporty features with luxury, great exterior design, sunroof, excellent stereo sound, great interior design, all friends and family love it, keeps heads turning around on the streets.

  • Over rated - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I purchased the C230 Sport Coupe to replace a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse. Big mistake. The Benz has a pretty face, but is a dog to drive. With a slow- shifting transmission and poor cornering, the fun-to-drive factor is on a par with an inexpensive Japanese or Korean car. Quality is a concern also, with problems with the SRS system; alignment; rattles etc. Last week I cut my losses and traded for a 2005 Honda S2000, which is getting about the same mileage. With the car being over-rated and over-priced, I wouldnt recommend a Benz to anyone at this point!
