This Year's Model Updates:

Changes are light this year. Mercedes' "4Matic" all-wheel-drive system is now available for sedan and wagon models (the C32 sport sedan being the lone exception) and the C230 Sport Coupe's supercharged engine has been revised for greater efficiency and lower emissions. A six-speed manual gearbox is available for the C320 models, and a supercharged C230 Sport Sedan is now available as well.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from V6 engine.
Cons:

First MB Ive owned. Nothing but MB from now on. Solid and responsive handling. Very quiet. For what its worth, also own a 2000 Acura 3.2TL, 87 Merkur XR4ti, 93 Taurus SHO and an 80 MGB.

We traded in our 1999 C280 - Loved that car! This 2003 C240 4Matic is amazing. There are many improvements over the 99 M-B. It is very quiet and smooth on the freeway. Power is adequate for me. Sound system is good. Like the CD changer in the glove box. Heated seats are great. Love the ability to read functions on the dash area, is a big improvement with the much brighter readability. Love the rear window blind feature.

No problems whatsoever. I get around 33mpg on long interstate trips, but only about 20 or so in town. I dont even try to go out if we get a few inches of snow. First winter, got stuck by my mailbox and the mail lady helped push me out, in 3" of snow. Tried top of the line snow tires plus sand bags and got nothing. This is the only complaint with this car, save the onboard computer controls could be a bit clearer, but I hardly use them anyway. Car is pretty, and 3 years later still gets turned heads when I pull a corner! From adults, too! Turns nice and tight, has a ton of features for such a "cheap" car.

  • New Baby Sportz Benz Fun To Drive (FTD) - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

We just bought this car for my wife to drive. We looked at the usual suspects in this class; G35, IS350, 3 series, A4, S60, LT-S, etc..., what a great group of cars all of them. This car just stands out from the rest. Its not the quickest, or the best sport handling, or most luxurious (thats the C320), but the sum of its parts seem to make it feel greater to drive thna all the rest or what gives it the FTD experience. Ours is the Obsidian Black w/Charcoal interior (the fastest of the C230 Sport Sedan),plus it has the looks over all the other sport compact sedans. Remember we just bought this car, so we hope, we still feel this way as time goes on.:-)

  • C240 4matic 2003 A wonderful car! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I love this car. The ride and handling are superb and the fuel economy is decent. I find the power is adequate (Im coming from an Audi S4). I have only had it a week so I dont know how reliability will be. I am giving it a 10 for now (although the door open warning does not come on). I drove the 2003 Audi A4 Quattro and BMW 325XI and preferred the ride of the C240. All the cars seemed to handle very well.

  • Love this little car! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Recently purchased this car for commute to and from work. Averaging 25 mpg, over 30 on the freeway! The car is sporty but not overly flashy, and is a lot of fun to drive. It is our second MB, and now I wonder why we ever drove anything else. It is a much stiffer ride than most MBs, but that just adds to the sporty feel of it. Bigger back seat than you would think for the size of the car, and the seats fold down so you can fit a surprising amount of cargo when necessary. This car is destined to be passed to our oldest when she begins driving.
