This Year's Model Updates:

Changes are light this year. Mercedes' "4Matic" all-wheel-drive system is now available for sedan and wagon models (the C32 sport sedan being the lone exception) and the C230 Sport Coupe's supercharged engine has been revised for greater efficiency and lower emissions. A six-speed manual gearbox is available for the C320 models, and a supercharged C230 Sport Sedan is now available as well.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from V6 engine.
Cons:

Smaller than I would have preferred. But interior, engine size and overall styling leaves me satisfied. Im 61" and the seating is just enough to keep me from squirming. I will easily opt for the E-class next time around. This car turns heads and is whisper quiet inside. I think Im hooked on this truly superior automotive line.

I am so happy with my purchase. I got the 2004 model. This is my first mercedes and i think i will never purchase anything else from now on. I knew that i wanted something in the c- class, but wasnt sure what model. I tested the c240 and it wasnt what i was looking for. It was hard to drive. I step on the gas and it doesnt go, and i step on the brake and it doesnt stop. :( Then, i test drove the c230. What a differeance! Its very easy to control and drives like a japenese car. Not the usual stiff european car. I am very in love with my new baby, and am enjoying every minuete driving it.

  • PERFECT 10 (Forget the BMWs) - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Dont buy this CAR! I love it soooo much that when I see another one it just drives me crazy. Fast, confident, sure footed, amazing design and is by far the best Car on the road. I spent Four months test driving everything in its class. I was careful about buying my car. Soon it was clear. Nothing else even came close. (Not even the BMW 5 series)

  • Power and Looks - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

A great looking car with power to spare. A little expensive and maybe a little smaller than youd like but with the Mercedes reputation for quality. I have not had to put a dime into the car for 3 years and the Mercedes dealers are a gems. You get treated like a SL500 owner. Definitely worth upgrading from the 240. I own a BMW 325 also. No comparison. With the 325 you have to upgrade to get close, with the 320 its all standard. Even then the power comparisons for the BMW fail big time vs the Mercedes.

  • Mercedes-Benz for life! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I bought this car because I thought "Wouldnt it be cool to own a Mercedes?" The answer is yes. The car takes care of everything and just lets you drive. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, speed sensitive radio volume, excellent handling, decent power; they thought of everything. I am tall at 62", and I actually dont put the seat all the way back! At $23k for a 16 month-old car its a bargain. Ive only had one problem; the automatic climate control stopped working one very hot (100+ degrees) day, and I had to switch to manual controls. It started working again the next day. This car had been more reliable than my Toyota Celica, and a hell of a lot more fun.

  • Great Hatchback - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This is a great hatchback. It is quiet, handles well, great build quality, and gets good gas mileage. For a little more than a Honda you get a Mercedes with all maintenance paid for 4 years. The C230 is peppy and fun to drive.

  • An excellent car that holds up well... - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

My car has been with me since brand new, now going on 142,000 miles and counting. Issues have been catalytic converter (under warranty), front headlights, steering linkage break, serpentine belt replacement (at 130,000 miles), leather interior cracking, faux leather on shift knob coming off, CD changer jamming, blower fuse melting and compressor breaking, and small ghosting on console display. Performance is decent for a car with 168hp. Gas mileage could be better but I drive like a maniac with quick acceleration so no fault of the car. Im pretty satisfied with the car and feel fortunate I dont have the issues so many others have. This car was manufactured in Brazil.

One owner, 40 k miles, has never been in the shop except for scheduled maintenance. Not too many of the V-6 coupes imported, hard to find in USA. Fast, fun to drive and gets great gas mileage.

  • C320 Review - 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Weve had the vehicle for 3 months and driven it 6,500 miles. Its proven totally reliable, no rattles, and provided an average of 25 MPG. Im surprised how much we were able to get in the trunk. Everyone who sees it or rides in it loves the car. I traded an ML 320 on this car and have absolutely no regrets.
