This Year's Model Updates:

TeleAid, which can assist in summoning help if you're ill or involved in a crash, is a brilliant new standard feature. A Touch Shift automanual transmission is added to all C-Class models, and stability control is standard this year. C-Class now comes with free scheduled service for the duration of the warranty period.

Pros:
  • Solid construction, free scheduled maintenance, lots of luxury.
Cons:
  • No manual transmission, aged design, grumbling exhaust note of C230.

  • Fun Little Car - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I bought my car over a year ago and it has been a pleasure to drive. It handles well, takes corners like a dream and has great acceleration. Pretty roomy back seat for a small car and nice trunk space. Besides a few minor electrical problems, this car has been great.

In 2010, I paid $3,005 for my 2000 C280. It drives like a dream and my last car was a Lexus LS400, so I know smooth. The small dealer slapped a sloppy paint job on the damaged left side, even stuck a screw through the left bumper to hold in place. Anyway, paint job was bad enough to drop the price well below blue book (~$6,300). Also, airbag lights are on, so what. Thats fine with me, because my pre-purchase inspection gave the engine an A-Plus! Ill get a better paint job and maybe fix that SRS (airbag) light later. In the meantime, it drives like a fine luxury automobile should drive, like silk. Do I miss my Lexus? Nope! I keep asking my wife, Is this car too good to be true?

  • Glad To Own It! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I have owned Volvos my whole life and have decided to switch due in part to constant repairs on the last one. I am happy to have switched and every mile has been a delight. The car has that Mercedes solidity that is unmatched in any other car on the road as well as an engine that is velvety smooth at any speed. The 5 speed auto is well mated to the engine which makes great sound and tug under hard acceleration. The interior preserves the lovely Teutonic ambiance of the older Benzes with great seats for long trips and very logical controls. This car was built for driving and has been very reliable. I love this car!

  • Pocket Rocket...But Still a Benz - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I salute Mercedes-Benz with the debut of this supercharged engine in this car. I used to have the older version of the C-Class with the old engine, and it was a slow poke. The car feals very solid, very well made. I usually drive the car in "Wet" mode, which gives you a much smoother, quiete ride. I put it into Sport mode when the kids and wife are at home to have a little fun on the way to work. I always arrive with a big smile on my face.

  • Top-Notch Class! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This car is excellent! I have owned this car now for a little over 8 months and everyday it gets better and better. The quality and the features of this car are top-notch for a used car or new. I got an excellent deal at under 15K with only 41,700 miles. I have the sport edition and it handles and accelerates like no other 4 cylinder that I have ever driven. Solid all around. The feel of the sport seats and the steering wheel make this car 2nd to none in its class. I had considered a bimmer but this car gives the best of both worlds luxury and sport. All my future cars will be judged on this caliber of car.

  • Worth the wait! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This being my first luxury car, I’m very happy with my purchase. MB has just found itself a customer for life! I have the special edition with all the available options. The beefy brakes, strong engine and manual shift capabilities help make it a very involving vehicle. On the negative, though, certain people at my job now look at me differently even though I’m still the same person. Maybe it’s the marque. Oh well, the joy I get from the ownership experience makes up for the attitude I deal with at work!

I have been quite impressed with the car, fun to drive and quick enough to get you into trouble with the po pos. Would like to have seen a bit more comfort in the seats, my Volvo T5R was far more comfortable. The car is pretty classy for the price, would like to see a standard CD player, duh?

  • The best - 2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

This is my 2nd M.Benz. My first was a 1994-190-E. It is Mercedes entry level car at $30k in 94. I was very impressed with how heavy duty it was. I was SOLD on M.B. In 2000 I decided get a new C-230. Again this is Mercedes entry level car at $30k and it is packed with features that I never expected. This car is a great value for the $ (Same price in 2000 as it was in 1994) Go figure? I believe that M.B. sells these at a very low profit in order to get you hooked on M.B. And belive me they do!
