Overview & Reviews
Ever expanding and improving its brood of stately vehicles, Mercedes gives the C-Class a complete overhaul for 2001. A choice of two new engines, increased safety features and sleeker sheet metal tempt those who seek to gain a foothold into the exalted realms of Mercedes ownership.
- Solid construction, free scheduled maintenance, S-Class Jr. styling.
- Tight squeeze for backseat occupants, pricey for its segment.

many bugs - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By albik - November 28 - 10:00 ammany problems, with the car and the dealer All sort of light burning; eletronic steering wheel adjustment breaking; suspension completely replaced, airbag problem light going on. Changed the remote key opener at least three times, and to cap it all off, the brakes had to be changed after 14,000. In total this car spent 1 month in the shop. Part of the problem lies with the dealer. Over a month to get an appointment and 1 week to get the car back.

Should of Been Better - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By Couldofbeenbetter - August 18 - 10:00 amI have had numerous problems with my car. Every electrical feature has had a problem. Got a new motor for my su roof, all light bulbs have been replaced several times within 3 years (never had to do that in my GMC), stahls, recieved new A/C, and the list goes on. I only had my car for 3 years and I had it serviced way too many times for a Mercedes. Customer Service was always good. But this year (2001)Mercedes did not live up to its reputation. Fun to drive but not worth the hassle of taking it in the shop every other month. Im too busy for that.

Stay away - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By Mercedes no more - May 31 - 3:03 pmI always wanted a Mercedes and purchased a C320 2 yrs ago. It has been at the MB dealer 4 times. I have had the starter sensor replaced, alternator replaced and codes reset many times. I live 75 miles from the dealer and it costs $225 each time it has to be towed. Now I am looking at a $2700 transmission repair due to transmission fluid leaking on computer componants inside the transmission. Too bad since the car is a eye catcher, super fast and receives many compliments. I will be trading it in on a Toyota/Honda/Nissan as soon as I get it back on the road.

Does not meet expectations - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By Lucky1 - May 3 - 3:46 pmAbout 3 months ago I picked up my first MB: a 2001 C320, one owner, 51,000 miles, garage-kept, and appeared well cared for. I am GREATLY disappointed in the paint. The paint easily chips, exposes the metal below and begins to "spider" out with blistering rust underneath the surrounding paint. If left unchecked, the car will be a mess in less than a year. It reminds me of the 72 AMC Gremlin my father purchased for less than $2k. The paint job was horrible and did not last a year! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that paint would be a problem with this car. I have stuck to American cars until this one and I am sorry I did not purchase another Cadillac or a Buick. I miss my Cadillac!

2001 C320 Sport sedan - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By DG - March 28 - 10:16 amIve owned this car for 5 years. I bought it used at a BMW dealer in St. Louis, MO. I have enjoyed this car and would consider buying another in the future. It has a solid feel that I have never matched with any other car. I have the Sport package. It handles superbly. I have kept a warranty the whole 5 years. Im glad I did. It has needed some repairs. The Japanese brands dont quite come up to the ride standard of this car. If you drive one, you will want one.

Disappointed - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By 50 Share - November 14 - 2:00 amThis is my third MB and my biggest disappointment with the reliability/quality. The car has been in for warranty service approximately 8 times for electrical issues, new speedometer, key problems, radio reception, new back window, door lock problems, faulty fuel gauge, mirrors that readjust themselves, ticking noise in the front engine compartment and it now needs to go back for a rear windshade that wont turn off, squeaking shocks and strange noise from transmission. Its unfortunate that such a comfortable and beautifully styled car has all of these annoying problems. This could be my last MB.

Form over Function - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By Matt in Maryland - June 11 - 7:20 amI bought this car used from a dealership and quickly realized that I would encounter numerous issues with it. It looks great inside and out but it stops there.I have had so many repairs from the dealer they know which loaner car I like best and I have developed a friendship with one of the CSRs at the dealer. At one point they have my car for over 4 weeks trying to determine an issue and even brought Mb Germany into the mix. I didnt expect a MB to have so many issues...broken climate control unit, steering column,cd player, digital dash display and more. The paint chips and has faded in numerous places and the door seals have dry-rotted making for a very loud ride on the road.Poor form MB!

Disappointed - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By currentsearch - January 12 - 2:00 amWaited oh so long for this car. First Mercedes and all that but have to say that I am somewaht disappointed. Stereo reception is poor at best. Seats are really uncomfortable despite my best attempts to configure. The idea of having to pay extra for a CD player is a bit much. At the end of the day, should have gone with a used E or waited until I could afford a new E.

bugs - 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
By harvey - December 31 - 10:00 amThe car is overengineered. The computer seems to bleed information on lights, mirrors, seats, etc. The electronic key is sluggish. The trunk is too small. Im glad I have my 91 190. I cant see the dashboard screen during sunlit hours. Still, it is fun to drive. How do I find Recall notices?
