Overview & Reviews
Mazda's first sport-utility vehicle since the departure of the Navajo half a decade ago, the Tribute combines car-like ride and handling with the ability to go in the snow and tote up to five passengers and a healthy amount of their luggage. With the most powerful V6 in its class, in addition to handsome looks and a spacious cabin, the Tribute should find huge success despite an increasingly crowded small-SUV marketplace.
- Stout V6 power, rugged good looks, roomy cabin, attractive pricing.
- Weak standard four-cylinder engine, no low-range transfer case.

Fantastic Car - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By seacogirl - December 24 - 2:00 amI cannot say enough about this car. I love it!!! It is the BEST buy for the money! I only regret that they dont make a "high class" model. No woodgrain, fancy bells and whistles, but who needs them! It has 6 CD changer IN THE DASH AND AM/FM, Cassette all in the dash -- other fancy high class cars dont offer that. The back seat folds down completely flat -- fantastic feature. This car is not too heavy to stop - when you hit the brakes, expect it to stop, unlike larger SUVs. It is also not a gas guzzler. I just cant say enough about this car. LOVE IT!!!

Zoom Zoom Zoom - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By Roxanne - December 10 - 2:00 amThe only part of the design I do not like is the shift -- hard to see dials on the dashboard--a stick shift would have been better.

Administering CPR - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By maxbassmedia - October 3 - 2:16 amBought this vehicle new in Oct 2000. Been extremely reliable. Had a problem w/sunroof years ago, and opted not to get it fixed. Now on my 4th set of tires, and just turned 253,00 miles. Been aiming to get 300K out of it. Just had first major problem, transmission started slipping :( Going to put a couple of grand in to keep it going, rather than get another car AND car payment. Hope the gamble pays off.

By Terry Yu - September 19 - 10:00 amFirst This Car have a handsome looking that I think is one of the best looking SUV in the Maket. On the other hand, Fuel Economy for this car is not good, Use a lot of gas!!! For the Performent of this SUV is just ok! It is not I call V6! Anyway other than that this is not that bad. It just doent like my other SUV TOYOTA HIGHLANDER!

You get more than you pay for - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By Brian - July 29 - 5:40 amI bought the Tribute almost one year ago for under $12K with 55K miles on it. It is not perfect. Wind noise is bad on the highway and the shifter is annoying, but everyone is amazed when I tell them what I paid. It has a superb engine and transmission, handles great (better than my old Saturn coupe), and looks good. It is not a luxury vehicle, but it is a great car. I have not had any of the problems listed below like the door leather peeling. I was a little worried by all the Ford parts. I would prefer Mazda to build it on their own, but people looking for relatively cheap SUVs with awesome performance cant be too picky. If you get it at a good price, buying the Tribute is a no brainer.

My Tribute ..... - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By Mike P - July 4 - 2:00 amI really enjoy this truck. I also own a 91 Miata which was my daily driver before I bought the truck. My wifes car is a 2000 Maxima SE. The truck has a tight and comfortable feel. Very responsive and rides more like a car than a truck. I test drove the Xterra, Sante Fe, Rav 4, CRV & Suzuki & Escape. I like the Tribute best. The Escape has a cheaper looking interior and unpainted body moldings making it look unfinished in comparison. The others either were under powered or felt more truck-like in their ride. The Hyundai had nice styling but felt slightly underpowered.

Zoom Zoom to Boom Boom - 2001 Mazda Tribute
By jose tejas - June 30 - 2:00 amEverything started to break under warrenty. New Tires since frist set had belt problem, new rotors and brakes at 23,000 miles!, new computer, plus a few other smaller problems. Once the warrenty gave out about 4k ago we have had to replace a brake wiring harness that melted! and TWO ABS brake sensors within a week of each other! I am selling this car and buying a Honda Pilot this week.
