Overview & Reviews
New hatchback and wagon body styles were added to the lineup at the end of 2004 and carry over unchanged for 2005. The optional automatic transmission on all V6 models has been upgraded from a five-speed to a six-speed unit.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

a - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By wife happy - December 20 - 2:50 amIve had this car for a year, so far it is still a treat to drive. Its a great change from what is out there on the roads. For a family of four its a great midsize value. My wife loves it and has been more than pleased with it. Im impressed with Mazda, theyve done a good job with this vehicle.

Not quite Zoom Zoom... - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By datdude - December 2 - 5:03 pmOwned my 2005 Mazda6s Sport with 6 speed automatic for about a year. My reason for not giving higher marks in performance and "fun to drive" is due to the poor throttle response - delay when the accelerator is aggressively pushed. This is one of Mazdas early attempts at an electronic throttle (i.e. driver doesnt have a mechanic connection with the throttle; the computer senses the throttle input of the drivers foot and then opens the throttle accordingly). I did take it to the dealership and received the computer software fix which improved the response somewhat; however, the existence of this fix is Mazdas acknowledgment of the problem.

Outstanding car - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Lenora - November 27 - 8:56 pmI traded in a Toyota Camry on the Mazda 6 wagon. This car is a load of fun to drive. It allows me the feeling of owning a sports car again when I now have four children. I cant believe what a great solid car it is for the money. Congratulations to Mazda for the new generation Mazdas.

Boxter to wagon - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By C. Rooney - November 14 - 12:56 amSelling my Boxter was a very hard thing to do, but, I needed more room for my business. I hate SUVs and still wanted a sporty fast car. A wagon was the obvious choice. I drove them all. The only other car I considered was an Audi, but the A4 was too small and the A6 too much money and impossible to find without an automatic. The "Six" has a great smooth 5 speed, a strong v6 and comfortable interior. Mine is fully loaded and a great value for $28K! I love the cargo cover and standard pull-up cargo (dog) screen. The center console is also great, tons of storage and looks great at night. Kudos to Mazda for leaving out the "fake wood" and designing a classy original dash.

Luv my latest Mazda - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By 3rd Mazda for me - November 10 - 6:43 amThis is my third Mazda in a row. Ive had amazing reliability (obviously since this is my third and I put about 40,000 miles on the car per year) and Im so happy with this one too. Each Mazda gets better and better. Options on other cars are standard on the Mazda and the price remains comparable to other makes. Nice! My fuel economy on my other Mazdas has always been better than manufacturer estimates and so far its the same on this one so Im concerned about some of the comments Im reading about less than expected gas mileage. Ill wait and see on that.

cnt wait for summmmmer - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By jenjen123 - November 8 - 7:17 pmI always loved my car but terrible terrible in the snow. Dont feel safe at all with even an inch on the ground. Slides all over n gets stuck constantly with barley nothing on the ground. Last winter spun out of control going barley 20mph almost totaling my car n this winter its been one aggravation after another. Any time i see even the slightest bit of snow fall i hope i have no where to go because i never felt so unsafe in any car. Think its time to trade in for a truck :(

*Please Read* - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Rman - November 3 - 6:46 pmPurchased the car a little over 5 months ago. Within the 5 months, 3 headlight bulbs burnt out, license plate light burnt out, needed to do tcm and pcm reprogram, replaced both front brake lines, replaced both front axle boots and cv joints, cigarette lighter blows every fuse you put in, both front and back brake pads were replaced, display clock flickers. I am being a truthful person here. Do not always rely on reviews. This one is getting sold or traded in.

Mazda6s - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Mike - October 7 - 6:16 pmAfter a year of ownership, I traded it in for an 06 MX-5. I wanted to love this car, but only liked it. Interior rattles started after a few thousand miles. Ive tried to like FWD cars, but still hate them, even after this car. The engine is powerful, but you dont feel it until you reach higher revs. Comfort and space are fine. Interiors a bit cheap - too much plastic, hard leather. Great interior storage areas. Long-throw shifter doesnt inspire. Poor pedal placement, which makes heel and toe driving very difficult. It got me around for a year. But I sensed too much Ford influence in the (lack of) build quality. With that said, cost/performance is a relative bargain.
