Overview & Reviews
New hatchback and wagon body styles were added to the lineup at the end of 2004 and carry over unchanged for 2005. The optional automatic transmission on all V6 models has been upgraded from a five-speed to a six-speed unit.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

The perfect car - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Ivan Cruz - March 4 - 9:03 pmThis is an awesome car. It is fast, handles well, and has way more features than Accord. Its the best all around car in its class. Plenty of interior space to fit myself, my wife, and 3 kids (two still in carseats).

Beefed-up 6 - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By neobopr - February 15 - 1:33 pmWhen I purchased my manual 05 a year ago it only had 13k on it (now it has 28k). I immediately added a cold-air intake and swapped in the mazdaspeed springs. I also added a takabe strut tower brace in the spring. What a huge difference! In my opinion, this car is now the complete equal of any of the best BMW 3 or 5 offerings aside from their "M" series--and at a very "non-BMW" price. Everything else is stock including the tires which I will be replacing with Falken ZIEX 512s in the late spring. This car replaced an 88 Porsche 944 which had been a project car. Here is a significant statement, with the alterations to the 6, I do not miss the 944, plus with 4 doors and a trunk!

Exceptional auto - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Dario - January 1 - 5:46 pmI am most pleased with this car. This is the 4th Mazda product I have owned and they have only gotten better. I actually had a PR5 for two years until the 6 wagon became available. It never fails to get compliments from men and women and Ive been stopped many times to answer questions. The car is very fun to drive and although I opted for the automatic Tiptronic, I find I use the manual mode often. Comfortable, practical, attractive, and quick, makes this a sports car in wagons clothing. I highly recommend it.

Owned it for 5 years now - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By B Davis - December 29 - 7:10 pmI bought this car new almost 5 years ago. Just turned 70000 miles. 4 cylinder 4 speed automatic. Have had no major problems. Transmission shifts a tad hard from 1st to 2nd when cold, but dealer found nothing wrong. Just learned to baby it for the first 1/4 mile. I find I use the manual shift mostly, especially on back roads when I want to keep it in 3rd gear, and not let it go to 4th gear. Overall very pleased.

My 6 - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Happy 6 Owner - December 27 - 1:16 pmSince Ive only had my 6 two months, I cant say how well it will last or whether or not itll break down at the least opportune moment. I can say, however, that its been a blast to drive it. The handling is very nice, and the color is fantastic (I have blazing copper metallic - very cool). I love the leather seats, and my parents love the "wall of airbags" and steering wheel mounted controls. One negative thing Ive noticed is that it takes awhile for it to really accelerate (I think that its due to the automatic transmission - it has to be pushing the gears to the edge before it shifts). Everything else about the car I love - it is my first car, after all.

Like the Wagon - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Peter Riess - December 20 - 7:06 amReally fun to drive. Very roomy cargo area. Gets lots of compliments on its sporty looks. Must burn mid-grade fuel or performance is severely downgraded.

Love My 6 - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By DAL - December 8 - 8:40 pmThis has been a sweet car for me. The only down side to me is the turning radius. Wishing it got 30+ mpg too, but it makes up for it in "fun to drive" area. Id buy another one!
