This Year's Model Updates:

Trim levels are shuffled and changed. The Sport becomes the entry-level model, while the other trims in the 2007 Mazda 6 family are revised, with the new Sport Value Edition, Touring and Grand Touring completing the lineup. Increasing the value proposition is the addition of more safety features across the line, with front side and side curtain airbags now standard on every 6.

Pros:
  • Fun to drive, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, attractive design inside and out, availability of hatchback and wagon body styles.
Cons:

  • 3rd review--07 sedan 5 speed 4 cyl - 2007 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Ive had my cherry red mazda6 for 2.5 years now, with 30,500 on odometer. Its been great; still fun to drive, no major mechanical or build issues (I did get the steering clunking noise fixed according to the factory service bulletin), and it still seems to be the best sedan in this price range for someone who likes to drive--not just get from point A to point B. My lease is up in September; Id buy it then, but Id rather have the hatchback version, so Im actively looking for a hatchback with a manual tranny, 6 or 4 cyl engine, and a few more options than my car has, like fog lights, mooonroof and spoiler. I just cant get real excited about any of the new cars on market now.

I bought this car after owning a 1995 Mazda MX-6 as my first car. I wanted a bigger and more efficient car without giving up ride fun. The Mazda6 sure exceeded my expectations. I love being able to take curves on the interstate without dropping don to 45mph. The acceleration and braking are 1000 times better than my moms Accord. It fits three others comfortably. I recently drove a friend to Atlanta and he was amazed about how much leg room he had. Hes 65" by the way... I have driven Hondas and Toyotas and they are fine for those who just need to get from A to B, but if you are one of those who enjoy the ride a Mazda is for you!

  • This is a fun car - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I purchased this car based on its looks, performance and price. You get a great handling car with good gas mileage for a great price. I have owned the car for just over a year and have only had 1 minor warranty repair. I love the hatchback and the fact that I can lower the back seats from either the cabin or the hatch (trunk).

  • Inexpensive and sporty - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Bought this car new to replace my 99 Altima. Much better looking, great handling and brakes, very comfortable and good MPG Engine not very responsive and not much torque, need to keep RPM high to get any power. Had to take it to dealer a couple of times, now its knocking in front end, so build quality does not match Nissan. High engine RPM at highway speed, needs 6th gear, that would improve mileage as well; I get about 30 MPG in mixed driving and a bit over that on highway. But otherwise reliable and fun to drive

  • Mazda 6i Sport Value edition - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Ive owned may cars over the years ranging from a Porsche to a Focus and also spent 25 years in the car business, mostly hi-line European. We just picked up a 5 speed, Sport Value edition. The 4 cylinder performance with the manual transmission is surprising. Build quality seems very good. The thing that impresses me the most is what you get for the dollar. We had 03 Focus ZX5 with a sticker of $18k and the Mazda is $20380, four years later. For $2300 more the difference is unbelievable. I think the car is on a par with an A4, Saab 9-3,and maybe even BMW 325. If youre in the market for a fun-to-drive, affordable sedan, check this car out. IMHO its probably the most underrated car out there.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I purchased my Mazda6 two years ago with just under 60,000 miles on it. I now have 98,000 on the odometer and (knocking on wood) have not had a single issue with the vehicle. Not one. I leased a brand new 328i prior to owning this vehicle and had more problems under 15,000 miles. All in all, for what it is, it has been great. Manual transmission makes up for the lack of oomph provided by the I-4. Interior is comfortable, and well laid out. Steering feel is great. While not a sport sedan, I sure as he!! drive it like one and given the horrible 700 tread wear rated tires, the limit is not far off so it is great fun, really. I am actually surprised by all the negative ratings.

  • Just not that into you - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I bought this car around a year ago. Before buying the car I did read a lot of reviews. Three things stick out in the Mazda 6 I have found to be true. 1) the road noise is very obvious 2) the car seats are not comfortable 3) the interior is nice, but is made of much lower quality than Toyota or Honda. I have had a lot of trouble with the rims. The low profile style, creates the perfect storm for bending or cracking a rim. Which I have already done twice. If I could do it all over again I would not buy Mazda at all. Instead (unfortunately) I would go with a Nissan, Honda or Toyota.

  • Should have gone with a Honda! - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I bought the Mazda6 as a replacement for a Mazda3. The mazda6 was my first brand new car. I love how it drives, and handles! Zoom Zoom... but at 11,500 miles I had the transmission replaced. At 13,000 I am having the transmission fixed, and the front suspension fixed. Sound strange to you? I live in a big city, no backwoods dirt roads, just city pavement. I am so upside down in this car, that I could never get out of it at this rate. I am about to bite the bullet and trade it in anyway, for a Honda. I hope no one else is having these problems.

  • Ok, I guess - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I traded my Mazda6 i Sport for this new GT V6 model thinking it would be much better. I was thrilled with my 4 cylinder car, and I really cannot notice much more zoom-zoom in this new one, unless Im going up a hill. Nice new features that can be found in luxury cars. Gas mileage is horrible even reving the car low with a stick shift, but it was to be expected coming from Mazda. Everyone admires my car. Although I would recommend getting a GT I with 4 cylinder instead of an S with a V6.

  • Mazda6 Wagon - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Overall Impression 2004 Reasonable car for the money. Put 50K miles on ours. 5spd manual stick. Full loaded. Pros Suspension feels good. Sporty appearance. Roomy for five people. Reliable. Fit. Cons Engine is a dog for its V6 size - but of course it is made by ford. MPG also a disappointment at 24 granny-style driving hwy vs. sport driving in the city maybe 14. ie. in this category the worst of both worlds. Turning radius is pathetic. Seating poor support in the lumbar (compared to any european car). Poor tire clearance on body. Manual trans I think was built for a different engine --ratios terrible -- too tight for a 3litre engine. Should have available 4cylinder eng.
