This Year's Model Updates:

Trim levels are shuffled and changed. The Sport becomes the entry-level model, while the other trims in the 2007 Mazda 6 family are revised, with the new Sport Value Edition, Touring and Grand Touring completing the lineup. Increasing the value proposition is the addition of more safety features across the line, with front side and side curtain airbags now standard on every 6.

Pros:
  • Fun to drive, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, attractive design inside and out, availability of hatchback and wagon body styles.
Cons:

We baught a new Mazda 6 and at first had to replace the dash. (bubled up). Then had to get a new back seat. No one had ever set in it.Speakers had to be replaced a number of times. After a month we ran low on oil. The oil light never came on. It didnt show oil on the dip stick. No leaks. No sign of oil in the exhaust. Engine rattles when you start up. The oil light has never come on. The power stearing pump went out. My wife has the oil changed at a well known shop down town. Its always low on oil when she takes it in.My Mazda protege was a much better car. This car has been well taken care of but I think its junk. I will never buy another Mazda or Ford. Nor will any of my family members

We replaced a 2000 Honda Accord with the 2007 Mazda 6s grand touring. So far the car has been great. We love the style and comfort. The performance is decent but the Accords and Camrys have more horsepower. We have 9100 miles and the car hasnt had any problems. The only real complaint we have is the Pirelli 18" tires that came on the grand touring are noisy, but this is expected for performance tires.

  • How Do I hate thee? - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Hate this car. With less than 3K on it the left front strut busted & now with 22k I am about to take it in for same strut #4! Dealer insists no issue causing this to happen, whatever! Have had oil pan seal replaced, rear interior lites repaired, exhaust mounts had to be lubed & needs again - rattling/squeak, steering shaft had to be lubed, squeaky seat fixed by removing a clip, passenger front window motor replaced. Most repairs before 15k! Not to mention that its 150 miles round trip to dealer, eating up time & warranty miles! Car has not held value at all, Im way upside down but I will trade before warranty is out, cant afford repeated repairs out of warranty. turning radius is terrible

  • Great car except for the gas mileage - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Love the styling and the performance (mainly handling), but cant say were a big fan of the gas mileage. My wife drives the car almost exclusively to work, which is a ~32 mile roundtrip of 90% highway miles, and were averaging 25mpg (tires properly inflated, oil changed, air filter changed) on our 36,000 mile Mazda6. The styling is great and it performed well in the snow, which reminds me of one other negative: this car is not meant for snow chains AT ALL. There is almost no clearance between the control arms and the actual tire, so you get A LOT of vibration even at low speed with snow chains. On top of that, the alloy wheels were scratched by the plastic chain connectors.

  • Very good value - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I bought the 4-cyl, 5-speed Value Edition after driving a 4-cyl Altima for 7 years. The value is unbeatable, it looks great, excellent handling, good gas mileage. The interior is good, with a number of features I did not expect at this price. Front seats are very supportive. The ride is stiff but not harsh. The engine is not as responsive as Altimas, and does not feel as strong. Another complaint is somewhat short gearing, the engine is close to 3k revs at 60 mph; it gets buzzy at higher speeds and MPG suffers. The stereo sounds great, but there is occasional static on FM stations; this did not happen in any other car.

  • Ok, for the price - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Fun car to drive, looks cute, sporty handling, however seats squeak horribly since day one, paint chips and scratches easily, interior doesnt hold up well-seats and dash trim, gas mileage- max 28mpg hwy driving no more than 65 mph. (would love to know how others are getting 30 mpg +, as they say they are! Dont think its possible, not even using cruise control) Have already replaced catalytic converter and rear main seal at 30,000.Heater has rattling noise that no one can seem to figure out what it is.Has alot of road noise.Would rather own another accord or camry for sure. This car is more comparable with a corolla or civic. Not as impressed with it as salesman was.

  • One Great Car - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

This is our first Mazda and it wont be our last. This car is great. Fit, finish, and quality are all exemplary. Though only a 4 cylinder it has ample power for merging and round town driving. Ease of maneuvering make this car fun to drive on the highway or in a parking lot. Very quiet interior and first rate materials abound. Hatchback model looks better than the sedan! Price versus features can not be beat by anyone and all the standard safety features make this a great family car.

  • Its the small things... - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Overall, my Mazda has done everything and more. The long trips and are comfortable and short trips are quick! I enjoy the tight and quick response handling. As for quick comparison, my last car was a Ford SHO and I would have to say that the 4-cylinder in the Mazda really moves when you go from point A to point B safely.

  • Loving my new Mazda6 - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I have not owned the car very long but it is fun to drive. I have had nothing but compliments and friends have been impressed with how comfortable the seats are.

  • Best value Japanese sedan - 2007 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Drove the accord and civic and altima, they could not touch the Mazda 6. I found the Mazda more comfortable and sportier than the hondas and the altima look is just not for me. MPG is very good in the 4 cyl version and has the power of a 6cyl. Stereo and controls are great unless you think good music only has bass in it. Seating is very roomy and comfortable, options in the value package are perfect. Great car a little noisy on the road but a body underseal will take care of that, usually depends on the road texture. Blue Hi beam indicator is like a laser beam when contrasted with cool red dash lts.
