This Year's Model Updates:

Trim levels are shuffled and changed. The Sport becomes the entry-level model, while the other trims in the 2007 Mazda 6 family are revised, with the new Sport Value Edition, Touring and Grand Touring completing the lineup. Increasing the value proposition is the addition of more safety features across the line, with front side and side curtain airbags now standard on every 6.

Pros:
  • Fun to drive, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, attractive design inside and out, availability of hatchback and wagon body styles.

  • Right on Target - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Bought the 6 in March 07 after much research. After almost 3 years we all agree it has been an excellent car. 33MPG on warm highway trips at 65-70 mph. Typical 22-23 urban mix year-round driving. It has needed only oil changes and tire rotations at the local dealer. If you want blistering acceleration, buy another car, like a new V6 Mazda 6 or a Mazdaspeed 6. If you only occasionally use the back seat for adults, it is fine. If I carried tall adults in back on a daily basis, I probably would choose the new Mazda 6 or a Malibu.

Had it for a year now. Fun to drive. A lot more peppy with the manual tranny. Get 30+mpg setting cruise at 80mph on hwys. Had to replace 6 cd changer because it jammed. Also engine started to smoke at 11K miles. Thinking maybe a piston ring? (I let it set all winter = 4months.) Complete engine replaced. Both replaced under warranty with no hassle. Great dealership. Manual tranny and summer tires not great in the snow, drove my truck all winter. Has a lot standard features that are usually costly options with other brands. Great for daily commutes and short road trips.

  • Little Disappointed, transmission? - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

Purchased the car brand new. Everything went very well for first 3 and half years. Just oil changes and gas. At around 58k miles we started noticing a cut off or disconnect in the transmission shifting between 3rd and 4th gear. We finally took it to the dealer and we were advised that we need a new transmission. Did that, luckily we had purchased the extended Mazda warranty till 100k, which covered us 100%. Otherwise, the car so far is great.

  • Unreliable Lemon - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

The look and feel of the car is great. When it comes to performance and reliability, it broke down twice in the first two months of ownership and within the first 3000 miles. The car jerked and bucked and was inoperable both times and had to be towed to the dealership for diagnostics and repairs. On both occasions, the actuator throttle assembly went bad and had to be replaced. After the second breakdown and over six weeks of the car being in the repair shop, I exercised my lemon law rights as a consumer and got a full refund. This time, I purchased the much more reliable Honda Civic.

I first bought the MZ3 and I really liked it. It was the special edition. I had some registration problems and the dealer had to take the car back and I was a little upset. Nevertheless, the dealer made it right by offering another car and I looked at the MZ6. I didnt like it as much as my MZ3 sp at first but now I am so glad I got it. It is bigger, mpg is similiar to MZ3, heavier ride, and sharp to look at. For the money you cannot find a better car.

  • Happy Driver - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I originally bought this car for my wife but due to my long commute, i started driving it a year ago. I look forward to my drive. The car is comfortable and handles well. I have gotten as much as 33 mpg and find this incredible for a midsized which is as good as a compact but with more room and style. 67,000 miles on the car and only a few minor complaints. I replaced the Michelins with 45,000 miles on it and have yet to replace the battery. My first and last 12 miles each day are down and up a mountain pass and really show off this sedans strong suit. Keep it in the sweet spot and smile. I am disappointed that the current 6 is not sport oriented.

  • Solid and Reliable - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I bought this car new in June 2007. Now its Feb 2010 and 45,000 miles later I only have praise for this car. Solid and Reliable. I bough new tires at 40k and also a new battery at around 34k. Other than that, I have never taken this car to the shop. Still rides and looks like new. I would buy it again. I have owned a couple other new cars before, and they all had minor problems after 2 years (power windows broken, gas pump failure, etc). Not this one. The quality of this car is superb.

We bought this car to have an extra car around. The car feels just as good to drive as my main car but for $15k less. Overall it is a great everyday car.

  • Love It So Far!! - 2007 Mazda Mazda6

I love to drive this car!! Its like a go cart on steroids. Zoom Zoom Zoom!!! From handling to get up and go it has plenty to keep it interesting. I also get a lot of "cool car" comments. Brakes and handling are also pretty nice (hence the go cart comment). I used to go through cars a lot, but so far I think Ill be keeping this one.

Bought this car when we gave my wifes 2002 Protege 5 to my granddaughter. My wife loved the 2002, so it was natural to stay with Mazda. The car is extremely fun to drive, and the few times weve had it on the highway, we averaged over 33 miles to the gallon. Weve had absolutely no problems whatsoever. In fact, I traded a 2006 Toyota Prius for a 2009 Grand Touring I.
