This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

I have not had it long, but after owning three Chrysler Vans I can tell you this van is outstanding in power, comfort and convenience. The warranty on this van is phenomenal.

The new Sedona has an amazing ride, and you get so much more for your buck than with any other van on the market. The extended room in the back makes all of the difference in the world (compared to my 2004 model). Not to mention the gas mileage is amazing for a minivan.

I find everything Ive wanted in a minivan. Someone really listened to what the owners were looking for in a van. I would and have highly recommended the car to all! And as a bonus the price is right.

Great van for the price. I like the room, the storage, and the overall fill when driving. We were able to get the DVD system, however I had to give up some of the other things I had in my other van (NOT A KIA).

I had a Sienna which was stolen and gave me problems and a few big repairs. This Sedona is nicer, faster, more features and has a better warranty. I have a fully loaded model and its always a pleasure to drive. Kia is not messing around and this van will steal a lot of Honda and Toyota sales. After my friend saw and drove my Sedona he ran out and bought one for his family and dumped his SUV!

After seeing Kias serious entry into the luxury minivan market, the also excellent Honda and Toyota models are starting to look old. The Kia is big, comfortable, tight, powerful and fast with FWD and traction control. From the 3 power doors to the amazing 13 speaker Infinity DVD system with 7.1 surround sound, this car really provides a great amount of comfort in a utility oriented design. Were getting close to 24 MPG on the highway and its not broken in yet. 2 year old baby loves the ride. Safety ratings top the list. Driving this in heavy rain, this car feels just as secure as my Subaru Tribeca. Kia looked at the market and cherry picked the best from all others to make a great van!

  • works for me - 2006 Kia Sedona

i use the Sedona for work, loaded with tools and parts. It has performed very well. city/hwy combined mileage is always above 20mpg. It can be fun to drive for a minivan and acceleration is exceptional for a vehicle this size. I have had a couple problems, turn signal stopped working; but seems to have fixed itself. my biggest problem has been finding a competent dealer and the prices they charge are comparable to infinity(for 60k service) I purchased the van because my wife has a 2003 optima which has been problem free. And the KIA was the last car I wanted her to buy. oh yes, plan to keep it as resale is nonexistent.

  • Its not bad but... - 2006 Kia Sedona

I love how the van rides, sits and style of it. Ive only owned the van for 3 months, so I cant comment on the quality and reliability. However, I would throw caution to the wind when you consider Kia at the present moment. The issue I have with them is lack of parts in the U.S. and poor service. Again, this is at the present time and I would assume over the next few years this will be corrected. The driving and style of the van compares to Honda and Toyota; other than that Kia is not in their league. There is a bigger problem and it not under the hood. So before you buy ask yourself how much is inconvenience and poor service worth to you.

It feels like a car when driving in the freeway. Not as many blind spots like the Odyssey and Sienna. it drove like the Honda but doesnt carry the Honda price!

  • My Kia has gremlins - 2006 Kia Sedona

Here are some of the problems: Numerous things: AC does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times Horn problems that have been fixed several times (Does not work properly when lock vehicle and it is to "chirp" when it locks). Also, security horn has had to be replaced Shifting / odd transmission type problem - the vehicle "bangs" when you come down a hill to a stop. Also, when slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. Very scary and they say this is ok or they can not find a problem. Also as you are driving it accelerates or decelerates oddly. Brakes - vehicle only has 62,000 and have replaced brakes twice.
