This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • love it! - 2006 Kia Sedona

I looked at many many reviews before making the decision to purchase my 2006 Kia Sedona...there were really as many bad as good, but I could not have been more pleased with my decision. It is so comfortable & roomy. There is some rear "squeaking" sometimes, but not that bad that I regret getting the vehicle. I simply love it! For a busy mom on the go it has been perfect!

Well we bought the vehicle used and the the fist thing that happened when we took it to the Kia dealer for complete service, the vehicle was in great shape until they did a recall on the left rear passenger door, the dealer was replacing the rear door latch. Since then the door has not opened on its own. Sometimes we have to play with the controls to make the rear door close properly.

Have owned 5 Chrysler Grand Caravans, mid-level and last one loaded with options. The Kia is a big step up in most every regard. Comfort, power, and handling are very good. Active and passive safety features equal and exceed the Honda and Toyota vans. Memory seats, mirrors and pedals help keep the Mrs. from cursing my bigger frame every time she drives after I do. Power pedals keep her back from the steering wheel airbag, a major problem in the Chrysler vans. Ride is just soft enough for comfortable cruising and stiff enough to ensure good feel and cornering. Quiet and responsive until you put your foot into the throttle and hear a satisfying effort. Kia has a winner in the Sedona.

  • Worse new vehicle I ever owned - 2006 Kia Sedona

Bought in MD, live in WV, could not get thru inspection 1st week we owned car due to light bulb issue (& we have had numerous bulbs changed / numerous electrical issues). Brakes/tires eaten up regular basis & other mechanical issues. Many problems with getting warranty issues handled correctly. WARNING WARNING **DONT BUY** Worse new vehicle we have ever owned!!

  • good value - 2006 Kia Sedona

After 2 years of ownership the car has been is the shop 6 times for little nagging problems from pulsing brakes to check engine lights. Never was a serious problem found but enough is enough.Add to it the new policy that The customer has to lay out $90.00 before they look at the car under its 5 year 60k mile program to make sure it qualifies for warranty work. I would think twice about this car...

Great standard features and option packages. Great basic warranty. Hyundai and Kia have it right! Much better than Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey. Fuel economy could be a little better. A little bit too much road noise and ride could be a little smoother. Cup holders rattle a little. A few things could be a little better but overall a great value.

Wonderful vehicle. I got rearended in this vehicle and the insurance company had to total it but I walked away without a scratch on myself or my son who was sitting in the passanger front seat. Very safe car. I highly recommend it. We liked it so much we went and bought a 2007 EX.

  • Kia vs. others - 2006 Kia Sedona

We bought this Sedona on reviews alone. I read car and driver and trust their take on vehicle reviews. Also the consumer reviews were very helpful. This is a no frills product and very straight forward in design. Its very comfortable to drive and very practical. Better than the domestics and equal to the Japanese offerings. I would look to either this Kia or the Honda. In terms quality both are equal but the Honda is a bit more sporty. Lets see here - sporty vs. 10 year warranty? Take your pick, for me its the Kia, I really like this vehicle.

The battery and fuel pump had to be replaced within the first 2 weeks. If the battery fails call roadside assistance. Kia makes no allowances for extenuating circumstances and will strictly adhere to their written policies.

  • Good solid van - 2006 Kia Sedona

We bought our 2006 in Feb. of 2007. We now have 17K miles on it. No major issues. We had the tires rotated at the 12K service interval and the sensors went off because the tires were under inflated. I just put some air in them and the sensors cleared. Interior is rather spartan. Gas mileage is okay from a 3.8L engine that turns out almost 250 HP. Great get-up-and-go. Wife loves the way the third row seats fold down. Lots of usable space inside. Just make sure to change the oil every 3K miles. It is a 40-weight oil so it is a little more expensive if you dont go to the dealer.
