This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

I bought this van in 2006, and after that I have brought this van to the service center for a thousand times already. Under chassis failed already, ball joint, tie rod end and so many to mention. During that time I had only 30,000 miles with the odometer. At 40,000 miles the oil seal failed (so many to mention). Now at 50,000 miles coolant leak. Keep it coming Kia.

I had an Odyssey from 2003 to 2006 and bought a 2006 Kia Sedona in late 2006. It had 4500 miles when I bought it. I like the comfort and ride, both compare favorably to the Odyssey. Recently while driving the drivers side view mirror fell out and was broken upon impact with the street. I had never had any contact with the mirror or its housing. The dealer first told me it would be covered under warranty but after it was replaced he called up the VIN and noted it had been put into service on 6-21-06 and as such fell out of the 12 months so wanted $42 for the mirror. And they did not take American express so they took the mirror back. Made for bad PR IMO.

  • Walk away dont ever buy - 2006 Kia Sedona

I bought this van new just because of the middle windows went down.. Wow was that a huge mistake. At 15,000 miles we couldnt even get the thing to start and forget about the 100000 mile warranty they didnt want to fix a thing. At about 25,000 miles the engine started to go and made all sorts of noises. This was one of the worst vans I have ever owned.

We have had a terrible experience with our Kia Sedona. It gets terrible gas mileage. We had some work that needed to be done that was covered under warranty, and they did not fix it. It is a very heavy van and does not ride very smooth. Would not recomend it to anyone.

  • Wow - Look out Honda and Toyota - 2006 Kia Sedona

Kia took a major leap forward with the 06 Sedona. We were only considering the Odyssey and Sienna when, on a whim ($1000 cash back, 3.9%, 60 month finance), we decided to check out Kia. Glad we did. The Sedona is packed with features at a very competitive price. Its fun to drive and they took into account rear collision safety (for front passengers). Its now in the same class as the top dogs in a very competitive market.

  • Where is the space? - 2006 Kia Sedona

I just traded my 00 Dodge Caravan AWD in for a 06 Kia Sedona LX. I have only driven it 75 miles. I was used to having more storage space in my Caravan. No under the seat drawer to put misc stuff. Also, that fold down tray between the driver and passenger is a real waste. For moms who drive, where do you put your purse, the Kleenex box and all those little things you like to keep at hand? I like the cargo net that I had in my Caravan. I have the manual seat adjustment and am having a hard time getting the seat to fit me. With long legs and short torso, I use the lever to raise the seat but it also moves it forward cramping my legs. The sunglass holder only hold small glasses.

  • New to Kia - 2006 Kia Sedona

Hey, I just bought my Sedona two months ago and I have been having problems with my sliding doors. After I close the passenger side door, the door will open by itself. I have been to the dealer three times so far. And the gas mileage is way off on the screen above the mirror. My gas light comes on when the screen will say I have about 40 more miles. Is it just me or what?

  • Our first minivan - 2006 Kia Sedona

I bought this van for my wife after extensive online research. The determining factors for buying this model were quality, safety and price. I looked at all vans from the "lowly" KIA to the "mighty" Toyota. What I discovered in those other brands was, in order to protect your family you were forced to buy the upgraded models with cameras and fancy seats. I want quality and safety to surround my family. KIA offers the same level of safety in ALL their van trims!! All comments I have received are of absolute appreciation for the build and material quality inside and out. KIA may be a Korean company, but they built exactly what we needed. My next vehicle will be a KIA/HYUNDAI.

  • Better than the Odyssey - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

After comparing the new Sedonna, to the Odyssey and Sienna, I realized the Kia hit a home run. You get all the feature content of the Odyssey Touring with the price less than the Odyssey EX-L. The vehicle ride is softer than the Honda, and actually handles better. The engine noise is less too, except under hard acceleration, but the beefy V6 produces a pleasing sound, so the wife and I both like it. It doesnt break any new ground with its features, but it does mimic the best features of all the market leaders, at a very fair price.

  • Sorry we bought this beast - 2006 Kia Sedona

Bought a new 06 in 07. Thought we were getting a deal.Buy van get RIO free.Still think there was something illegal about the paperwork, since we ended up with a loan on the "free" RIO.the van has not performed well at all. Headlights constantly going out.As soon as temp drops under 40 side doors freeze shut(dealership thinks Im crazy)Third row seat keeps getting caught, have to use screwdriver to unstick it.Brakes and tires shot at 20000 miles. Alignment has never been right. Airbag had to be fixed. Light still comes on. Engine light on and off all the time. They say there is nothing wrong with it,but van keeps acting like it is going to die on the road.Value is next to nothing.
