This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • Great Value - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

We have had the Sedona for 2 years now and so far so good. It has proven very reliable and very comfortable. This is a large minivan and with the seats folded it can carry an impressive amount of cargo. I moved recently and was able to put my sofa in the van with no problems. The only complaints are the fuel mileage and some of the plastic interior parts are on the cheap side. Another major drawback is the steep depreciation on this minivan. However, this is not something Kia can directly control Having said that, the standard equipment is quite extensive, especially the safety features.

  • Good value, but peculiar seats - 2006 Kia Sedona

This is my second Kia (first was a 98 Sephia). In both vehicles the drivers seats are too short from front to rear. Other than that, the ride and seating are great. My kids (teenagers of substantial size) enjoy riding in any of the rows. The sliding door windows are also a little strange, and create a very irritating buffet at highway speeds if just one sliding door window is rolled down. Gizmos work as advertised. I bought sans roof rack in order to take advantage of the big owner loyalty rebate, and I am waiting for the dealer to let me know if the rack is in. It might be a little too mannerly, as I found myself going way too fast on the NJ Turnpike, feeling like 20 mph less.

  • The Unbelievable 2006 Kia Sedona - 2006 Kia Sedona

Simply amazing! The price hooked us and the test drive reeled us in. We love everything about this vehicle. We have only had the car a couple of weeks, but have loved every day. We make up reasons to go for a drive. The turning radius is amazing, the fuel economy surprising, and the added features are almost endless. Attention to detail is what I ultimately love best. There are so many extras, we actually had to read the manual to remember all the buttons. A little practice and now it isnt a problem. With three kids, ease of access has also proven beneficial.

  • Not a happy consumer - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

I have had nothing but problems since day one. Brakes have been repaired over 10 times. Mostly the first year. Wiring harness melted, so bad the rear brake light melted. Seat latches in 3rd row keeps breaking. Doors freeze close. With 3 kids having to get out back not fun. Kia not very cooperative. Alignment keeps going out. On third set of tires. Need new again. Forth set of headlights. Out again. Dealer and KIA not very friendly or helpful. Places blame on me. Had to file a lawsuit. After 3 years they acknowledge van is lemon. Not a very happy consumer considering I worked hard to have something nice and turned out to be a headache!!!!!

  • New Owner - 2006 Kia Sedona

Recently purchased Kia Sedona. Always owned cars, never a van. The inside still has the familiarity of a car. My children enjoy it, especially the DVD. I dont have 100 miles yet, so I really cant comment to much on the performance/mileage. The ride, so far, is nice, smooth and pretty fast.

  • Emergency Service - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

Vehicle has been equipped with emergency strobe lighting and two way radio for Emergency Management purposes. Pulsating headlights or wig wags headlights cant be done due to sealed head lamp unit; settled for grill strobes. Two way VHF radio can be hidden from view with full display of center tray cup holders. Rear strobe lights installation OK for tail light assembly and clear backup assembly. Vehicle has easy access for front firewall wiring for radio installs etc, however caution is advised for running wiring up through posts to roof assembly due to airbag placement. When operating off-duty Sedona appears low profile like a standard undercover vehicle.

  • My 2006 Sedona EX Rocks - 2006 Kia Sedona

Have only had my 2006 Sedona EX for five days so Im only qualified to provide initial impressions. Very pleased to date. Great handling, power, ride and attention to detail. Had owned a Chrysler product minivan for 17 years prior to my Sedona purchase (an 87 Grand Voyager that I had for 9 years and a 96 Grand Caravan that I had for 10 years). Both provided good service, especially the 96. Was drawn to the 2006 Sedona because of the major changes made from previous versions, all of the safety features, and the warranty. Fell in love during the test drive. Appears to be a quality product. Hope I feel the same way years and miles down the road.

  • Best bang for the buck - 2006 Kia Sedona

If you are looking for the best value for your dollar, this is the ticket! Why pay thousands more for other brands with the same features? This one provides quality at a value price.

  • The MiniVan - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

Well a bit shaky about a Kia, then we drove it. It feels like some of the other minivans but better than the rest. Rides like a big heavy car but more room to move around in and better view of the world around the van on the road. Built solid and is very quiet on the road, handles great, safe feel on the road.

  • Finally Got Rid of It - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

Purchased this car for a family of 5 in July 2006 from Central Kia in Dallas, TX. Over the course of the next 4 years it spent over 90 days in the shop on 56 appointments. We had a vast assortment of issues ranging from wheel replacements to ECU replacements. In between we had both O2 sensors replaced, 3 fuse blocks, Throttle body, several power packs, W/S washer pump, radio, sway bar and several cosmetic items replaced. Unreliability is the key for this vehicle. Even when it ran it felt like it was going to die at any minute. Ate tires like no tomorrow and was in general a very poor vehicle. We took it to 3 different dealers service departments for the work. DO NOT BUY A KIA, EVER!
