This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • Best on the market - 2006 Kia Sedona

Ive owned a van before but sold it because of the miles on it and things started go wrong with it. Bought an SUV. Missed the van and decided to get another one. I looked at other manufacturers and someone at work told me about the Sedona. He told me to go and see one because he loves his. I did go to see one and brought it on the spot; they had to locate it. Best van for the money & no one can match the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I love to drive it. Its like driving in your living room recliner. It beats all the others for ride, comfort, and style. I have all the bells & whistles. I would recommend this van to any one looking to buy one, even if you never dreamed of owning a van, like I did.

  • My Sedona - 2006 Kia Sedona

I really like my Sedona. It drives well and is always dependable. If I could change anything about it, I would only change the room between the two middle seats. It is difficult to get between them to strap the other kids in the back seats or for adults to climb all the way back there to sit. I would also increase the mpg it gets. I think that a minivan should get great gas mileage as it is a family vehicle and most families are on tight budgets.

  • Not Great - 2006 Kia Sedona

My family has been driving the Sedona LX for 2 years now. With less than 30000 miles, it has been in the for power steering line problems 5 times. Finally the line was replaced. One dealership added power steering fluid 3 times (why on a brand new car with less than 6000 miles??) Problems with the rotors. Both passenger doors freeze when the temperature drops. This happens consistently, not just when the car is wet. Very aggravating trying to get 3 kids in the van in winter with doors frozen shut crawling over the front seats. Gas mileage is terrible 13-15 in the city. Due to the size of our family (3 car seats), got a minivan (reluctantly). We should have went back to an SUV

This is the second Kia Sedona that I have owned...I find that it is very reliable with no problems at all. It is a very comfortable van with lots of leg room.

  • You could pay more... - 2006 Kia Sedona

Weve had this van for almost 3 years and 65,000 miles and its been everything that we expected. We got all the bells and whistles and theyve been worth every penny. I like fast vehicles and I am never left wanting for passing power. The manual control of the transmission is great, and eases the frustration that comes from the sometimes slow downshifts in full automatic mode. I feel very secure with the handling and think the steering is fine, too. I feel fuel economy is average for a vehicle of this weight and engine size. It doesnt have the cylinder deactivation like the Odyssey, but the extra money youd spend to buy that vehicle will fill up your Sedona many times over.

  • A Keeper! - 2006 Kia Sedona

We only had our Sedona for a couple of weeks, but so far we love it. Still breaking it in, so hopefully mileage will improve. This van rides smooth and just feels put together well, I mean nothing rattles. I love how comfortable the seats are and the all around visibility. Kias package cant be beat. We traded in my wifes Sorento so on top of the 0% financing for 60 months we got the owners loyalty cash back! Beat that! Honda or Toyota. Dont get me wrong, I love my Matrix, but Im actually letting my wife drive it to work just so I get to keep the Sedona to drive it around with my kid. Cant wait for a long road trip.

  • Good vehicle for a family - 2006 Kia Sedona

My wife wasnt impressed when the dealership gave us two different coded keys. She couldnt start the van because the key she had was coded wrong for the ignition. It took the dealership 6 hours to get back to her to explain why the van wouldnt start. Weve also had to return to the dealership to have the cigarette lighter replaced with a cell phone plug-in. The vehicle only had one power plug. Neither my wife or I smoke, so we preferred to have two power plugs. There are a lot of bells and whistles, almost too many to get to know in a short period of time. Ive found that some of the accessories, like the pull up tray between the driver and passenger can make it difficult to engage the seatbelt.

  • First-timer for a van and Kia - 2006 Kia Sedona

We bought the Kia because of the 5-star rating. We liked many of the features and loved the way it handle. It was more affordable than any other van we had researched and offered more than enough comfort and safety for our family. However, this being our first van, we are still undecided if we would purchase another Kia. Its interior design is questionable-like the hazard button-it took me forever to figure out how to change the radio and climate without hitting it with the side of my hand. The back seat has a middle seatbelt that comes out of the ceiling and doesnt fit anyone right that uses it. And whats up with the conversation mirror-everyone is so tiny its of no use!

Great van, period. Not just for the price. Nicely designed. Gets frequent second looks. Great acceleration for a van. Feels powerful, yet smooth.

  • Dangerous Vehicle - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

I have owned my 2006 Sedona LX for just over 2.5 years (45,000 miles). Approximately, 14 months ago, at 22,000 miles, the car started sporadically dieing while driving. The acceleration/speed would completely go out. This has happened twice while driving on the freeway and four times in total. Fortunately, no one has been injured. Each time I take the vehicle to the dealership and they assure me it is fixed. However, the problem keeps recurring. Kia Motors has done little to address this other than to claim they have fixed it just to send my family and I out to break down again. Kia obviously has little concern for consumer safety and no sense of business ethics.
