This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

  • Ill Never Have a "Car" Again! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I never thought Id be driving an SUV, but I LOVE this truck! Ive always had cars but saw this in the show room, loved its ride, and had to get it. The inside is total luxury while the outside is still that rough and tough Jeep with some sleekness to it. I just got her and had the opportunity to take her out in the first snow yesterday. It was like driving on dry pavement! I highly recommend this vehicle!

I have been looking at this Jeep since they first came out. I was finally in the market and got the exact one I wanted. I purchased the Jeep Liberty 2004, with package 28b. It has everything the limited does and more! But for a cheaper price. This is my second Jeep I have owned and I suggest you test drive one. The ride is so smooth. You wont believe your in a Jeep ! Good Luck

this vehicle has a nice fit inside and out the v6 is very quite compared to the old inline 6 they used in the amc days. it has a car like ride which is a first for a jeep. my old cheeroke sounded like a truck and hopped and skipped down the freeway every time, but it was a very dependable machine it passed many broken down fords in its day

So far this winter, have been out in the ice and snow three3 times. Th Liberty Performed flawlessly, only wish it came with Bridgestone Revo tires. Really like the style and the solid feel. Compared with the other SUVs its size, I must say that the suspension is a lot more beefier than the other brands. The Honda CRV looks like a toy compared to the Liberty. So far, after 1000 miles I am very pleased with all aspects of my new car. (Especally the heated seats!)

  • Liberty Means Freedom - 2004 Jeep Liberty

Liberty means the freedom to be different than the rest. If you want 30-plus miles per gallon, buy a Neon. If you want perfect road manners and car-like handling from your SUV, buy the Escape. And if you want to look just like everybody else on the road, your choices of cute-utes are plenty... No doubt youll be happy with them too, because you got exactly what you were looking for-- a big car thats shaped like an SUV. If, however, you want real SUV performance mated to civilized handling and some rugged, good looks-- the Liberty is not only the best choice-- but really, its the only way to go.

From day one, my lemon-flavored Liberty has not been able to drive in a straight line. I have had the vehicle for 5 weeks, and have had it in the dealers shop 6 times. And Ive heard this is not an uncommon problem. On other sites, I have found that there may be a problem with the uni- frame being misaligned from the factory, but the dealer refuses to even look at that. So much for my warranty! Luckily, Texas has very consumer-friendly lemon laws, but I am not happy that it has come to this. My advice: dont buy one without having a mechanic you trust check it out first.

  • Great Vehicle! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I love this Jeep. I wanted a Wrangler but needed extra cargo room so I bought Liberty. It has 12,000 miles on it & will hit 12,500 by its first year with me. People complain about the fuel economy ItÂ’s not too bad. Expensive to fill from empty but I can go pretty far on a tank. And plus, youre buying a Jeep. If you want good fuel economy, buy a Civic. Good thing for me, Jeep has amazing 4x4 systems too! Problems: 1) Rear window was popping itself. Known problem, dealer replaced rear window switch (moisture shorted it out). 2) Clunk from front end on bumps or corners. Dealer greased "steering stops" and noise stopped.
