This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

Only 7,000 miles so far but have enjoyed the feel of the Liberty, my first Jeep. Ride is comfortable and like the feel of the 4WD action. Have maintained good traction in both snow and rain and takes turns well. Enough power out of 6cyl for my purposes. Excellent look to it and part of Jeep family a plus as well.

This vehicle was purchased for my wife as a replacement for 2002 Mercedes ML 430. She gave up on that vehicle because Mercedes said the squealing brakes were "just a fact of life" and the rear seats needed a German engineer to get them to fold and return. She loves the Liberty and its handling. I find the performance with the 3.7L V6 more than adequate. Interior seating and position leaves a lot to be desired. The looks are very Jeep and "fun". Weve had four Wranglers and three Grand Cherokees. Liberty has the Wrangler fun and some of the Grand Cherokee style. A very good new vehicle.

Love it! We just (as in 3 days ago) bought a Liberty Limited from Fitzmall.com in Maryland. I did a lot of research and it came down to the Liberty Limited, with the 28-G Package, Leather heated seats, moonroof, 17-inch wheels. Its a beautiful auto. It runs superbly smooth and clean. It is a jeep truck and the engine sounds like it. It has a lot of power and it is very tight at cornering.

I love my liberty. Its just the right size SUV. It is easy to manuever. Its stylish and fun to drive. It has a six cd stereo system built in the dash. It has great safety features. It has side air bags. It also automatically turns the front passenger air bag off if the passenger weighs less than 100lbs. IT has radio controls built into the stering wheel. I love my liberty!

I love my liberty. It is great on the road, and off the road. It looks sharp and is comfortable for us "big" guys. I am 63 275 and I fit great. My wife loves it to.

Bought this vehicle brand new. I drove every other SUV out there. I didnt want to try a Jeep but my husband insisted. We bought it right on the spot after the test drive. I have never had a problem. It is like a little tank in the winter.

Just got the new Liberty. I have only owned Jeeps my whole life. From the Wrangler to the Cherokee to the Grand Cherokee. This is a great vehicle that not only is economical to purhase but has the great engine that wont ever die.

  • Look Mom, a real SUV. - 2004 Jeep Liberty

There are only 3 or four true SUVs on this site that have actually *earned* the classification -- two of which are Jeeps. If you want a car, buy a car. If you want a truck, buy a truck. If you want an SUV, buy a Jeep.
