This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

  • Jeep Liberty 4wd w/ sunroof - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I just crossed 1000 miles w/ my Liberty. This is my 3rd Jeep (previous Jeeps were 95 Wrangler then 98 Cherokee). My overall impression is a LOT of thought went into this vehicle. We bought it because it looked to be a good combination of car (ease of driving, safety, sportiness) and SUV (carrying capacity, ruggedness, ability to do some light towing). I think they really pulled it off. I have been very impressed with the quality of materials. So far it seems well built for the money. I put a 100k on my Cherokee and look forward to doing the same w/ the Liberty!

  • LOVE THE LIBERTY!!!!!! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

Bought the 2004 Limited 4WD Liberty 4 months ago... This car is awesome... great for driving in new york city (and can parallel park it with ease!)... the gas mileage is really not that bad for and SUV. The car looks great, drives great and can hold a lot of cargo. And although most people dont like the window controls on the center seat, weve grown used to them and for the drive and passenger seats. I actually like them better than the on the door version. However, for the back seat, I think they should be on the doors.

Ive only had mine since March 2004. There are some features that take some getting use too. One is that the window controls are in the center not on the door. Two- the headlight stay on for a few minutes after you turn them off. The first couple of times I thought I left my lights on. The front of my vehicle got hit by a tailgate of a truck the front grill just cracked and one of the headlight broke. There are many good points. It has quit of bit of pick up.It is generally fun to drive

I owned a mini van prior to leasing the Liberty. I got the mini van due to younger kids etc but after that phase was over the Liberty was perfect for me. What a fun suv to drive! I have not had one problem with it and in fact when everyone else is stalled, stuck either by snow or rain as in flooding my liberty got me through it. I feel it is the perfect balance between comfort while driving and reliability in all conditions. The only wish I would have would to have it be just a tad larger (Longer) but I give it a 9.9 on a scale of 1-10.

Just picked up the jeep. Rides pretty well, but ofcourse it is a jeep. Dealership did a great deal on jeep. I was considering a Kia Sorento. What the hell was I thinking? Jeep has a better name and better reliability.

  • loads of fun, power and comfort - 2004 Jeep Liberty

First Jeep I ever owned and Daimler- Chrysler has built a winner. My Liberty Limited has been flawless in all kinds of weather and in every driving condition both urban and back roads. Only complaint is the soft pedal Chrysler brakes. They need more muslce and firmer touch.

Not bad, going on my 3rd year with it and still no problems. Lots of power, goes well in the snow. My next vehicle - will be another Jeep.

Im averaging almost 23MPG (sometimes over!) and am pleased with the engine power, quality of exterior & interior appointments. I HATE the power window buttons on the center front of the console compartment (almost like an afterthought); on the doors would be much better! At just over 14k with no problems and varied use, Im pleased with "Herbie". Nice style, comfortable ride & drive below 70MPH, steady & predictable in 4WD as expected from a Jeep. Yes, Id likely buy another one ... a CRD next time!

Front the day purchased there has been a problem with a vibration in the front end, tires have been rotated, replaced - still vibrates. Brakes had to be replaced in first month. Still have vibration. It gets maybe 16mpg on any type roads, country or highway. I would trade it in in a heart beat but the value dropped so fast even the dealer wont take it back for what we owe. The interior is very limited, less than my PT Cruiser had.

  • Driving for the fun of it - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I have enjoyed driving my 2004 Jeep Liberty more than any automobile I have owned. It handles well and has just the right power with the 3.7. The only thing is fuel consumption. Not very good on mileage city or highway.
