1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By rllr - July 31 - 8:50 amI bought the 98 Cherokee Sport brand new in June 98. Eleven years later it drives like new. Its engine has gained fame has incredibly reliable, the best of the best from Jeep. Ive driven it everywhere. It can go 100mph comfortably and get out of any snow bank. Its a shame they discontinued it. As someone over 6 feet tall, I really appreciate the great head room!!

Reliable and Long-lasting - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By RdeB - July 30 - 1:40 amWe are at 250,000 miles and going strong! This car has served us well, so we are keeping it, even after 10 years! The drawbacks have always been the same: it is noisy, and there is no leg room behind the drivers. We chose the Jeep because of the wide space in the back (fits a 4-ft wide object in the flat, and is high). We also like the rack on top and the comparatively small outside dimensions & lots of window area (maneuverable & easy to park), and on slippery roads in the winter we like the safety of 4WD.

a jeep thing - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By chris2234 - May 13 - 10:00 amExcellent inxepensive suv with good re- sale value. The only problem is gas mileage. My 1990 crown victoria with 175,000 miles got better gas mileage.THis vehicle will no leave you stranded and is the best 4wd i have ever driven. THe only downside to a reliable engine is the gas mileage. ALos cheeply built with too much plastic inside. Rattles like a 10 yr old car. No complaints other than gas mileage, par for any suv, but rediculously low for this vehicle.

My Tank - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By ScootertheMan - January 27 - 10:00 amI bought the Jeep new because I was tired off getting stuck in the snow. The Jeep is like a tank and rides like one also. I take it hunting and drive it over plowed muddy fields without any worry of getting stuck. I have 65,000 mi on it and have had no major problems.

capable and fun - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By tropicalbob - December 7 - 10:00 amOnce you get over the horrible gas mileage, youll love this vehicle, its fast, with 190 hp and lighter than the blazer and explorer, and capable, its great pulling boats and jetskis out of the lake on dirt ramps, and my friends are always amazed at what I can get unstuck , I pulled out my friends explorer (2001) last winter, and a passport which was stuck in the woods behind his house, that was funny since he paid twice as much, and I was driving thru the same mud he got stuck in

Well lets see..... - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By danny000 - October 30 - 2:00 amIve had the Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 3 years. I havent had any REAL BIG problems yet. One major thing to keep in mind: it makes a humming sound in the rear. I heard its a common problem with the JGCs. The cab is extremely noisy, especially in the back seat. The 4WD also takes about a 1/4 mile to pop back into 2WD. Taking corners on the 4WD is also a chore. Overall, I like the Jeep and would consider buying another, just beware of the hum, it will drive you NUTS!!

Nothing else ever will compare - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By IMChad - June 23 - 4:10 pmI love this jeep. Im on my 4th year of owning it and cant say enough. Ive put around 80,000 miles on it and at 150,000 it still runs like brand new. During the winter, we had 24" of snow and it was below zero and it was nice being the only one in the neighborhood who didnt have to shovel the drive. When the plows came and buried the drives, I just climbed over it. Fuel mileage really does stink on this one though. I drive like an old lady mostly and I get 13 city and 17 highway/interstate. But, my wife gets 30 in her car and i still pay more a year keeping hers on the road. Ive not changed anything but a wheel hub, tires, UV joint and battery. Not bad for 4 years of heavy driving.

The perfect Jeep - 1998 Jeep Cherokee
By deadeye - April 6 - 10:00 amBought used from a lease reseller. I previously owned a Commanche truck, and loved the truck. I am very, very happy with the Cherokee. I get 20 mpg on the daily commute to work and on the highway. Not much stop and go driving though. Recently I stopped at a business and next to me was a woman with a Cherokee same year and style as mine. She asked if I liked mine, and said she loved hers "I can do anything I want with it!" That is the JEEP thing.
