This Year's Model Updates:

With the redesigned Jeep Cherokee's debut pushed back until the summer of 2001 as a 2002 model, the current model will remain in place for the 2001 model year with minor changes. The 4.0-liter PowerTech inline-six engine is standard equipment in all 2001 Cherokees, with the 2.5-liter inline four, along with the SE trim, dropped. The previous Limited trim is also dropped, with the former Classic trim now labeled Limited. All 2001 Cherokees offer child seat tethers as standard equipment.

Pros:
  • Powerful engine, affordable, extremely capable off-road.
Cons:
  • Boxy styling, small rear seat, difficult entry/exit.

  • Its a Jeep - 2001 Jeep Cherokee

Owned a 97 VW Jetta before this that was fun to drive. This Jeep is fun, but in a different way. For a vehicle with 15 in rims it goes over just about anything, is tough as nails, and I know that I can count on it to get me practically anywhere. Its not the most comfortable thing in the world, but thats just part of Jeeps purpose. My Cherokee actually has more horizontal room than a Liberty, and is definitely built more solid. Gas mileage is horrible (my vw got 26, this gets around 18), but its well worth it for the experience of driving a legendary SUV.

Bought this beauty with 69,500 miles on it and I am enjoying every minute of my 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4WD! By far the best car Ive owned. Great acceleration, sweet transmission, rock solid inline 6 cylinder. Cant ask for a better 4WD Vehicle. Rugged, great looks, reliable vehicle.

I bought this thing while I was home on leave from a deployment. I was only able to drive it for a week and a half while I was home, but, man alive! I drove the ever livin crud out of it. Now all I can do is sit around and daydream when me and my lady are reunited. Externally very understated, internally its a whole other world. I knew this immediately as I slid over the leather seats and perused the controls. The torque is breathtaking and the overall build and handling of this hunk of metal is much better than I had expected. I would never seek to modify this gem - much, but Ive already been toying with hanging parts on another older model.

Worst vehicle ive ever owned. bought it with 72k for 10k in 2005 110k now. no kidding i have never had this truck 100 percent since the day i drove it off the lot. its always been something. hood cable 5X window regulators 10x valve cover gasket, oil adapter gasket. evap coil 2x. wheel bearing 3x. leaks water from every gasket. oil from every gasket. electrical system is falling apart. Not to mention its terrible on gas. have to be in 4x4 to make it thru a 1/4 inch of snow. 4wd indicator switch 8x and the new one just broke. this jeep is so piss poor i bought a 2006 mazda because i didnt trust the jeep and the mazda is no good!! yet another bad dicision the jeep forced me to make.

great car, a little better on gas on the highway, a/c kills acceleration unless gas tank is over 1/2 full, fun to drive, great acceleration w/o a/c on, body moldings on rear bumber arent the best quality and def. get new floor mats
