I sold my Jeep Wrangler because I got tired of messing with the tops, and bought my Cherokee used, in perfect shape. I take it camping annually. ItÂ’s great on back roads, or no roads. Ive taken him through streams, sand, on slick rock, over sagebrush and rocks, ditches and snow. It holds all my gear with room for me to sleep in it. Mine is a white Limited model, so it looks classy, but I bring it back covered in dust, mud and bugs. Great sound system, comfortable, powerful, great turning radius, great ground clearance. A perfect car for all purposes. The only thing I dont like is my back road and expressway combined trips average only 15mpg, not too good, but not bad enough to sell it!

I have owned this vehicle for almost 6 years. I have not had one problem with it. It is strong and reliable. Suprisingly good handling. Jeeps are great vehicles that are fun to drive in every condition (except windy conditions). This truck combines the rough and rugged with a taste of luxury with its leather seats and steering wheel and 10 cd disc changer. I give it two thumbs up.

  • I adore my jeep. I want to marry it. - 1998 Jeep Cherokee

I really love this car. It was my dads until two years ago when he gave it to me for my sixteenth birthday. Its fun to drive -lots of power, and its never had to go into the shop for anything major. In almost 3 years Ive put about 70,000 miles on it because I travel a ways to school, but the only problem is that sometimes- in very cold weather- it doesnt want to start immediately...and thats not too much of an inconvienence. And the gas milage isnt terrible for an SUV-I get about 23 mpg. It still runs great and I could drive it forever. I love my jeep, I really do.

bought it w/30k miles, its got 130k HARD miles on it now & its still kicking (not w/o some little quirks.... nothing serious, just gives it character! This little SUV kicks butt..... its unstoppable! Let it snow! & rain!? Ha! I rescued people in BIG SUVs during a recent flash flood. PLUS it tows my horse trailer.... not bad for a 6 cylinder! I love this baby and wish they still made em!

I just got my third Jeep Cherokee! So far I have had nothing but luck! The first Cherokee I got is a 1987 Cherokee, manual trans., 4wd which now has over 230,000 miles on it and still runs fine! My second Jeep is a 1998 Red Cherokee, manual trans. with over 100,000 miles on it and it also runs like new! My newest Cherokee is also a 1998, auto trans, 4wd with 43,000 which also runs like new! I still have all three of them and probably will never sell any of them. The only problem with Jeep that I can think of is that they stopped production of the Cherokee. Personally I think Jeep made a huge mistake when they did it.

Ive had this Jeep for about 9 months and LOVE it! I had no problems with it yet. The ride is a bit bumpier than normal vehicles when you hit some railroad tracks or a pothole, but its otherwise ok. The gas milage isnt great, but it could be worse :) The cargo space irks me just a little, just a few more inches and a few snowboards or mountain bikes would fit perfectly without having to jam them in. Overall, i think the Cherokee is a great vehicle in style and performance, and i would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic vehicle. Reliable, comfortable, small but big. The best Ive worked on, the best Ive driven.

  • My first and only Jeep...thus far...... - 1998 Jeep Cherokee

I bought my 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport brand new -- right off the hauling truck. It originally had 0.3 miles when I drove it of the lot. I now have over 124K miles. So far, the only problem and so much to my suprise, the water pump went out at 42K miles and the factory front breaks at about the same time. The second front brakes wore out at around 85K miles. Im on third set of front break at over 124K miles and I suspect Ill be replacing it soon since its starting to vibrate again. The rear breaks wore out at around 114K miles. Thats all the problems Ive had in the 5 year Ive own my Jeep. I guess thats good enough. No engine problem so far.

  • Wont die unless YOU kill it - 1998 Jeep Cherokee

My Jeep has an engine and transmission that just wont quit. Despite years of being driven by a mechanically-deficient person, it always seems to start and get us down the road. As far as creature comforts go, forget about it! The a/c was the first to go, followed by the control panel (speedometer, gauges etc) which often requires fiddling with the trip reset button to get the gauges to work again. Then, alas the heater has started to fade. Couldnt ask for a better SUV for living in the snowy north, but the lack of amenities in this old mule is a definite relationship-ender.

I bought the jeep smashed up in the front for a great price. Bought some new and used parts and painted it in my garage. Has been great ever since. Yearly maintenance is $100-$200 on average and I pile the miles on it. More reliable and durable than anything on the road. Everyone says in these reviews that they wish they still built them, the truth is that they do in China. AMC/Renault put a plant there in the 80s and they still build them today. Maybe they will offer them for sale here, I would buy one.
