I bought this jeep off some goofy dealer in Ohio who i honestly think he was slow. I won a auction on Ebay and snagged it for $5000. It had 98k miles when i got it, it now has 106000. I like the jeep because of the first one i bougt was an89 with 88k. I still have it but has turned into a body work project due to rust but it never broke down. Anyway, we get a lot of snow and this thing is insane in snow/mud. Havent had a chance to get new one in snow/mud. THE GAS MILEAGE SUCKS BADLY, but i love the power. I could burn off the tires in three street blocks.Easy to work on.Nickel and dime problems Lose the liberty, bring back CHEROKEE.

This is easily the best vehicle Ive ever owned. Not only can it fit all my stuff and my friends, I can take them over the mountains of New Hampshire in a snowstorm. I spend most of my time in the city, and it is by far the easiest vehicle to parallel park (I used to drive a Neon and an Altima). The ride is solid, the pick up is there when you need it, and it sure does look great all cleaned up.

  • Bring back the Cherokee! - 1998 Jeep Cherokee

1st Cherokee was a 90, bought new. Bought this one new also & now has 85K miles. Still love it, but am considering buying a new SUV. Hate the Liberty!! So probably will move to Grand Cherokee, but I prefer the smaller size of the Cherokee. Its easier for me & my dog to get into. Im a real estate agent & if it werent for the hard-to-get-into back seat, I wouldnt be thinking of changing. Its been just great, very reliable and still looks new!

Very basic but also very durable. This is one tough vehicle that can take a lot of abuse. If you are like me and just want to get in and drive then this is the ideal vehicle. Expensive European cars know to keep their distance in parking lots and on the highway. Couldnt have asked for anything else but power windows.

When I first bought it, it was major trouble...I needed the water pump, the oil gauge and something else replaced the first 6 months and it was heating up alot. The battery went out 4 times- the rear cargo door wouldnt close all the way and ran down the battery....I thought I had a lemon. Almost filed, but the dealership fixed everything OK and it has been reliable since then, except it seemed like it needed new tires and brakes too often and I do a combo of city and expressway driving . It always goes through the water and snow- it does slip in very sloppy conditions.

  • my kids WILL drive this car - 1998 Jeep Cherokee

i enjoy driving this vehicle because its loud and fast and handles like an italian sports car(some modifications have been made). this is not a hugh suv, but the front seats are more comfy than my freinds 02 bmw, his heat up though.Ive invested a little money into a sound system so i can almost drowed out the open exhaust! this is the second jeep ive owned(first was a 97 tj) and they can not be beat for off road capability. you can drive up things that you cannot walk up with this vehicle. owning a jeep is something everyone should try at least once, and then youll understand- its a jeep thing-

This vehicle is great in the winter with 4WD, and handles nicely anyh other time. The fuel economy is bad with this vehicle. Having a straight-6 engine takes a lot of gas, but if you can afford it the towing capacity is worth it.

This is my first vehicle, and a great one at that. I drive a lot, and I usually get about 22 MPG with it. I can use it for hauling my friends or my "stuff" around. It was built tough; I rolled it last July, but had it repaired and it looks and drives like new again. A couple of things have been replaced, such as the tires, spark plugs, clock spring, and brakes. I bought it at 83,000 miles, and at 142,000 its still going strong. Great vehicle!

I inherited a 96 Cherokee in 2001 with 260,000 miles. Made many repairs to worn out parts but no faulty parts and unecessary towing bills with this vehicle. I ran it until it had 330,000 miles and then sold the vehicle for a surprising amount with many offers. At that time I purchased a 98 Cherokee with only 98,000 miles. It has treated almost as well as my first Jeep, but they just dont build like they use to. Well actually they dont build them at all anymore, but I suppose thats because the Wrangler got all the attention.
