This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 S-Type, Jaguar has redesigned the interior, upgraded its hardware and added models to the range. The model lineup includes the S-Type 3.0 SE and 3.0 Sport, 4.2 V8 and the supercharged R. The S-Type R is the most powerful Jaguar sedan ever created, making about 400 horsepower and moving from rest to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. A new five-speed manual transmission is attached to the 3.0-liter V6 this year, while a new six-speed automatic transmission puts V8 power to the rear wheels. The suspension is also new in front and heavily revised in the rear. New standard safety features include stability control, panic assist brakes, anti-whiplash front seats, dual-stage front airbags, side curtain airbags for front and rear occupants and power adjustable pedals with a memory feature. Jaguar has also stiffened the body structure, made slight revisions to the exterior styling and added xenon headlights as an option (standard on the R). Audiophiles can opt for the 320-watt Alpine sound system, and technology buffs will appreciate the new touchscreen telematics system with improved voice recognition.

Pros:
  • Powerful R sport sedan, beautiful styling, full load of standard safety equipment.
Cons:
  • A few cheap interior bits, high price, fussy J-gate shifter.

I purchased this car from a private party that fell on hard times after only putting 4100 miles on it. I love the styling of the vehicle and wanted the 4.2 liter V8. This car was to be my dream car. After seven years, I have to admit that it has lived up to most of my expectations. The original warranty, and then the extended warranty I purchased later, covered just about everything I could have requested. I get approximately 22 MPG with about 80% of my driving on the freeways of Southern California. By using Michelin touring tires I find that the ride cushion and quietness are better than I had expected. I compare the acceleration with what I had as a kid with my 64 Olds 442.

We purchased our Jag used a few years ago. It had about 48,000 miles on it at the time and had been a lease vehicle. We had some initial mechanical issues. But after we got those straightened out, the car has been wonderful. I absolutely love driving it and will probably keep it until the wheels fall off.

We purchased used in 06.3 1000 miles. Fair price.Cool looking car. My wife thought it was the 2nd coming,I couldnt get her out of it. Thought this was a good investment for years to come. Thought it would be reliable, considering it was a jag.The first 2 years were ok-the tranny and oil pans were leaking, minor really. We had them repaired. The last 1 1/2 years have been difficult to say the least. The car has had its instrument cluster put into a fridge, dash lights have done off/on while driving at night, cd player problems, heating controller malfunctions, exhaust issues, other elect issues, and most recently the lower control arm needs to be rpl-it leaks($1100.00) Show me the money-looks great!

Most exciting car, I ever owned was a Jag XKE 1962. Except it was a pain to keep running. This is quite a car and I have owned BMW 2002, 735i and 740i. Wife doesnt even realize when I go around curves fast lol.

The car is 70% redone for 2003 and yet I have had absolutely no problems since delivery. The dealer was business like, didnt waste my time and delivered when he said he would, with the equipment I ordered. The Nav system is superb, you cant fool it. the tranny is fun and love the J-gate.

  • Whats a BMW? - 2003 Jaguar S-Type

I have been a BMW buff for years purely for the performance and luxury of "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Then, I got a Jaguar S-Type. Initially it was all about the class and sophistication associated with the brand. Ill tell you what, this cars performance heritage is unleashed with a sport package option. It has all the handling capability of its competitors with a lot more style and presence. I love my Jaguar. Its got a few more safety benefits, better fuel economy, more room, more class and is a real head turner because of its rarity.

  • Wow, I love this car!! - 2003 Jaguar S-Type

Its been just over a week and I am deeply in love with my Jaguar. I moved from a Mustang GT to the Jag and the change is amazing. The elegance of the car enhances the great look. You feel like you are in an expensive resort. The deep hue of the wood, the buttery soft leather, the smooth coolness of the steering wheel, just perfect. The refined ride is a great complement to the quiet interior and the nav system is easy to use. I Know it has only been a week, but wow, I love this car!!

  • What a Fabulous Vehicle - 2003 Jaguar S-Type

If there is a more satisfying luxury mid-sized ride in the world, I dont know what it could be. The S-Type Jaguar is the first of many fine autos Ive owned that meets or exceeds all of my lofty expectations. The only negative is that my standards have now become so demanding that I suspect I can never be as happy with any other car. The fit and finish is superb and the styling is the best of any other car in its class. The only equipment improvement would be to create a more compact key remote design (its impossible to attach other keys with the current fob). Be sure to get the Performance Package with adjustable pedals and steering etc.

After 52,000 miles still an amazing driving experience. Rock sold body structure and build quality. Still turns heads and elicits admiring comments with its timeless design. Engine and powertrain among the best on the planet. Rocket-like acceleration and cat like handling when you want it, civility when you dont. Had a failure of the adaptive HID headlight (left side) out of warranty, but Jag paid 1/2 the bill. Just noticed grease seal leak on right rear suspension. Interior temperature sensor replaced last year to fix malfunctioning A/C. Thats it for repairs. Mid 20s highway mileage very reasonable
