Just what I wanted - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By Trooper Fans - May 9 - 10:00 amI bought the Trooper for its TOD, Size and most of all, the fact that it really was a truck under the Sport Utility skin. My wife and I love this car much more than the 1990 Jeep Cherokee it replaced (200k on that one). We plan on keeping this one just as long.

Great Vehicle - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By rd - April 20 - 12:23 amPurchased new with Performance/Luxury pkg. Its been great. Very good legroom in back seat. Reliability has been excellent. Changed front differential fluid today, wear was as expected, no problems. Interior design is simple, still looks good, not real dated. Oil use is not too bad, but some gone at each oil change. TOD works well.

Isuzu is the best truck made, Texas - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By InfamousKato - January 24 - 10:00 amI dont understand why you have to drive a big truck in TX when the best truvk made is the Trooper. I had already pulled a high-centered Dodge out of the mud....what else do you want?

Exceptional 2nd Trooper - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By Army Trooper - June 6 - 2:00 amThis is my second Isuzu Trooper; my first was a 1988 that I reluctantly sold. I had it for 10 years. The 1999 is far more powerful, rides even better, and really delivers a punch when needed. I intend to keep mine for as long as I can! And then I intend to give it to my daughter as her first vehicle! Super performer off road and on in all weather conditions. Pleased as pleased can be!

Fun to drive- Expensive to own! - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By fettj - January 6 - 10:26 pmI purchased my Trooper with 72,000 miles on it and immediately had the transmission flushed and service. Throughout its life I changed oil every 3,000 miles and used Valvoline Max Life. I blew the tranny at about 135,000 miles, and Im not sure why. I took very good care of the vehicle. Besides that, I had a lot of problems with the vacuum 4 wheel drive system, which cost me a lot of money. The AC also went out at 85,000 miles. When the tranny went out the rear struts were shot and the exhaust system had a big hole in it just behind the caddy. Since Isuzu discontinued their automotive line, part prices have gone up significantly.

Reliable with caveats - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By Tory97 - November 17 - 10:00 amAbsolutely no problems for 69,000 miles. Great off road and TOD system works well. Air conditioning unit cannot cool vehicle when temps get to 85. Poor gas mileage (15 MPG overall)

POOR MANs TOYOTA LANDCRUISER! - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By go-to-ak - November 7 - 10:00 amMy 2nd Trooper and sixth SUV of varying makes. Good V6 power, comfortable, nice conservative look. Good handling on the street, but surprisingly off road can leave most "real" SUVs (like Jeep, Range Rover in the dust). Huge interior olume for storage, camping gear, big dogs, etc. Overall reliablity of these is excellent- you may have a few minor problems but not ones that will actually strand you. Known problems in this car are oil consumption if PCV and EGR valve are not kept clean every 30K miles, also running synthetic oil seems to prevent this. Mine burns no oil. MPG average for this class. Factory shocks were weak - suggest Ranchos- dramatic improvemen
