Lemon at Large - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By ccya - September 14 - 12:07 pmI bought this vehicle used with 160,000 on it. I didnt make it one month before it needed major repairs, I was told it was the transmission, by several different mechanics. Took it to a trasmaission shop they switched out the transmission and $2700 later they took it for a test drive and guess what it was still doing the sam thing. Turned out to be the alternator not the transmission. Havent had it back a week and the muffler dropped on it. Than within one more week the motor starts knocking, not a good sign.

You may like it now, but try to sell it! - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By Not Happy at All - December 23 - 10:00 amThe Trooper doesnt hold its value. If you are not in it for the full term of the note, dont buy it. I paid a really low price for it new, but I will still be upside down in my note for a very long time. And comfort? Whats that. I think Isuzu Engineers sleep on stone beds!

STAY AWAY! - 1999 Isuzu Trooper
By Jeff - November 10 - 9:16 amI bought a 1999 Trooper expecting the same performance as I had with my 1992. Boy was I wrong! I ran my 92 Trooper to about 150,000 with very few problems. The engine died at 68,000 on my 99 Trooper costing me over $4,000 to repair. How ironic that my warranty ended at 60,000 miles. Isuzu has known for a while about the inherent engine problems with the 1998 and 1999 Troopers. However, they refuse to do a recall.
