Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

In Love! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By RN_Ashley - May 2 - 12:30 amI was looking to buy the new Lexus IS250c and then test drove the Infiniti G37 convertible and was sold on it! I bought the car the next day! I love my first Infiniti and first convertible. It has enough power to get me in trouble and is sexy on the inside and out! The interior is beautiful and I love the heated/cooled seats!

Excellent Car - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Fyzzicks - March 23 - 4:10 pmI traded in a Lexus coupe for this vehicle with the Sports and Navigation packages and I havent looked back. Fun to drive, the brilliant red is an eye catcher and its packed with electronic toys. Overall, this car is a blast. You cant help but punch it a little when accelerating and that does impact the fuel milage. I dont understand why the interior wood trim option is not allowed with the sports package.

This Car Rocks! - 2008 Infiniti G37
By A.C. Nash, Esq - January 27 - 12:26 amNow that I have driven over 5000 miles in this dream, I have to make a change to my earlier review. First of all, the MPG has definitely improved. I was able to drive from Miami to Jacksonville without having to refuel! I even had about a 1/4 tank left after the trip. Secondly, I still think the seats are too narrow in the front but they are bolstered very well for aggressive corners. Finally I complained about the build quality and interior design but they are both excellent, I just wish these birds would stop targeting my paint! Infiniti has a winner here. Go out and buy one you will love the drive, the performance and all the attention and compliments you get.

Good blend of luxury and sport - 2008 Infiniti G37
By J Carman - January 24 - 11:30 amThis car drives and handles like my 350Z did, but has more amenities and creature comforts for more enjoyable long-distance drives. I dont find the automatic lagging, nor do I think the shifts are harsh. Moving the lever into sport mode makes a difference, too :) Went from a 2006 Audi A6 to this, mainly for the fun quotient. Has all the tech goodies from the A6, and then some.

Rated the best and is - 2009 Infiniti G37
By HHall - January 22 - 1:16 pmSet out to buy either a new MB C330, BMW 328, or Lexus IS250. Did all the research, but the Infiniti was consistently rated highest and was the lowest price so I figured a test drive was warranted. I was sold on the first press of the accelerator. A terrific car - clearly out performed the others. Excellent in snow and slush - couldnt make it spin out in an empty parking lot. When priced out with similar options, just a tremendous value for the money compared to the other three. (Acura was too ugly). Got 21-22 mph until my speeding ticket, now gets 24-25 commuting.

Amazing Automobile! - 2008 Infiniti G37
By speakerman - November 12 - 8:23 amI researched for several months before purchasing the Infiniti G37 coupe. The reviews which praised its performance were right on. It not only features awesome acceleration, but has the best brakes I have ever experienced. Interior fit and finish are excellent. I purchased the ivory pearl exterior, and Im regularly getting comments on its beauty.

Infiniti Hush Money? - 2009 Infiniti G37
By bad build quality - October 22 - 5:30 pmRight after I purchased a 2009 G37 Convertible, I noticed that there was persistent creaking coming from both sides of the rear portion of the hardtop. That night, I put the top down and up, and noticed that the trunk was opened afterward, so I closed it manually. The next morning, I approached my car in the garage to find the trunk opened again. 2 days later, the engine refused to go past 10 mph and the Engine Light was on so I was forced to bring it into the dealership. Its since been over 30 days and Infiniti has tried to solve the problem twice to no avail. I still dont have my car. Most of all, Im wondering where the other bad reviews are? Can anyone say Infiniti Hush Money?

Pure Excitement - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Goose - September 20 - 4:36 amThere is no comparison to a BMW 3 series, this is the car to beat. Plain and simple if you love driving (aggressively I might add) and love to see cars in your rear view mirror then get this car. The G37 X is all u need. Fun to drive. Power is incredible. The interior is classy not overbearing. The ride is smooth. This car will put a huge smile on your face when you drive and look at it. Enough said. Keep blowing away BMW. True drivers will appreciate and love this car.

Almost, but not quite - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Enthusiastic - September 17 - 7:56 amJourney with Premium/Nav/Sport. Best value for the money. BMW 335 much more expensive and many features not available on it. Paddle shifting 5 speed isnt great, I leave it in auto. Auto needs at least 6 gears. Great quality seats. Feels slower than my CLS500 but its not broken in yet. Traded my 2004 WRX for it and no regrets at all. Most technically advanced car I have ever driven, executed well, easy to use. Even my wife likes it. Says she gets more looks than when she is driving her G500. I see many G35 coupes on the road, thats a negative. When I first saw the G37 on the road I thought it was a Lexus, good thing. Previous version was too "slab-like". No regrets at all.
