Model Overview:

Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.

The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.

Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.

Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).

In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.

A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.

During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.

A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.

Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

  • Cant Beat it For The Money - 2008 Infiniti G37

As an owner of Acura, Lexus and Mercedes I have to say this trumps all of them in what you get for the money. The car is fast, affordable and fun. Cant beat the two year lease Infiniti usually offers on the car. Other favorite features include attention grabbing looks, and intuitive navi system. However, the build quality could be better on the car, where Ive had a problem with the muffler in the first few thousand miles, although that was only on early models from what Ive heard. Also, I wouldnt label the car a true sports car since in the corners it could be a little more nimble. 3 series beats it in that. Overall, an amazing car and still my realistic dream car that Im so proud to own

I cross-shopped the 328i (xDrive), TL-SHAWD, A4 2.0, and IS-250AWD. None of them came close to offering the same blend of performance, handling, features, technology, and usability as the G37xS. The engine is extremely powerful (pulling away with four passengers up a hill is still easy to elicit a "Whoa" from everyone on board), the chassis handling BMW-like (read: near-perfect), the technologies (voice control, music box, swiveling headlights, laser cruise, traffic gps, etc. etc.) both cool and easy-to-use, the seats bolster you in like some high-luxe sport cars, and the overall experience is extremely satisfying and fun.

I had been looking for cars for quite a while and was really looking forward to the new A4 after test driving almost everything. This new G37 may not look like it but it is a great evolution of the G35 Last spring I rented a G35 while on vacation but felt that my B5 S4 was superior after the rental. The gas pedal was very touchy and the transmission had a mind of its own. This G37xS feels so solid that its hard to believe its based on the same car that I drove 8 months ago. Anyone considering a BMW should take a G37 for a test drive and try to deny the primal thrill that this V6 delivers at redline. You should buy this car because it sounds so much better than its competition.

The car has a real nice ride to it and so far Im very happy with my purchase. I havent had it that long to really comment on the mpg but so far its about as advertised. I only have 2 complaints about the car, 1) when you take your foot off the gas and the car begins to slow down it has a rough downshift from 3rd to 2nd. Not something youd expect from an auto. 2) the brake pads give off way too much brake dust.

  • Having some fun! - 2009 Infiniti G37

Have been driving my G37S for 2 months - still putting a smile on my face! Acceleration with the manual transmission is a hoot, and sport suspension / handling is fabulous. Looked at the BMW 335, and besides the fact that there wasnt a single non- black manual transmission to be found ANYWHERE, and the fact that the same features would be $10k more, and the fact that it doesnt have that awesome Bose sound system, the G37 Sport 6 speed was still my favorite. Even fit the kids in the back, so its practical, too (ok, Im a roadster convert, so its all relative). I LOVE this car!

Infiniti won! for a few months now I have been debating on my new car. The cadillac cts-v has been on my wish list for a few years now. Early march 08 I took a trip to go test drive the CTS and my wife said "Hey there is an Infiniti dealership on the way, lets stop in and look." Needless to say I never made it to the Cadillac. I am 64" 300lbs, and i sit comfortably in the G37. The front seats feel like LazyBoy recliners. The pep is nice but I notice a slight delay from the time I floor it to the accelaeration throwing me into the seat, but it is easy to point out a flaw when there is only one.

  • One of the best in the GT coupe class - 2008 Infiniti G37

The Infiniti G37 is an amazing vehicle. Ever since I saw the original G35 I always wanted one. After the G37 came out I went and bought a 2 door G37 S with all the fixings including the 6 speed manual and navigation. This car is not only fast, but reliable and sexy all at the same time. A car with all of its features normally sells for thousands of dollars more. Infiniti also made the interior of the car a lot better now and it is up to par with some of the nicer luxury cars out there. Give this car a test drive, you wont be disappointed!

I test drove TL S-AWD, BMW 335 X drive, and G37 X. BMW 335 gave me the best driving experience in terms of acceleration, handling, brakes, and comfort. G37 was good too but not as good as BMW. I bought the G37 because I got 6 grand off MSRP and its roomier inside. Im sure its a lot more reliable than BMW.

Great performance, firm ride, easy to use controls, it feels secure and comfortable. Well designed interior and exterior. It feels like youre driving a piece of art. Averaging 20 mpg, have seen 25 on the highway.

  • Best Sports Car Ive Had - 2008 Infiniti G37
    By -

Ive driven Porsches, BMWs, and a Corvette. This one beats them all as for my personal taste. I look forward each time to drive my new G37 car. The technological advancement from my old G35 2005 to G37 2008 feels like 10 years difference. Im a big fan of manual shift gears on cars but the Paddle Shifter is so much fun to use. Especially, I get busy making my calls while I drive most of the time. I just experimented recording with the digital flash card to play music and it sounded awesome. I cant believe were living the day and age of advanced technoloy today. On this car its true that you get more than what you pay for. I cant wait next week when I install my Infiniti exhaust system
